Thanks Edi,

A good price for a centrino laptop.

I may consider this one now that I can't get hold of the £299 celeron, however not too keen on buying a laptop from ebuyer.
What's the cheapeat this is at other big name retailers?

Went to my local Tesco's yesterday and they said it's very unlikely they will get the 2414 in again at £299.

nice specs for the price
thanks edi

This is a very good deal. 14.1" screens are a perfectly acceptable size to work with, making the laptop far more portable (lighter) than their larger counterparts.

Anyone know if its 2 x 256 or a single 512mb RAM? If its a single 512 then urgrading to 1gb should be fairly cheap and therefore worthwhile.

The only downside to this is that the battery life is only 2.5 hours (in practise it will be more like 1.5 - 2 depending on what you're using it for). Bear in mind that this, for example, might not allow you to watch a full dvd film - this is often important to people who get bored on trains / planes / automobiles ;-)

Also you can take the "windows vista compatible" with a pinch of salt... thats like saying that a 2.33 mHz pentium II with 128 mb is windows xp compatible!

This is also available at £395 inc. delivery and comes with a free Vodafone 3G card

Delivery charge is £11.69 there unless you but the extended warranty, so £406.69 final price. The vodafone card is a big plus though! Although I am pretty much positive you can call up Acer or Vodafone or whoever is running that promo and get it from them anyway. Some people were doing this in one of the Dell threads a few months ago.

Thanks Admin,

How much do Vodafone 3G cards cost anyway?

the vodafone card should be available with any centrino laptop... it's a deal between intel and vodafone
I have one too but never used it... it's pretty cheap on ebay these days as there are many sellers... all having the card from this offer

More info here on Vodafone data Card here:

All you need to do is call Vodafone on 08700 712840 with your invoice
number and they will match your laptop serial number with the one we have
sent through and Vodafone will send you your card by post.

Anyone had any experience of buying through shopacer?
