i dont think its really worth it for 1.66 MHz

Could it be 1.66 GHz perhaps?
1.66Mhz isn't enough to drive a cellphone never mind a PC.

Its 1.66GHz.. my apologies for the error

Nice budget laptop from a reliable brand.
Don't expect to be doing any gaming on it with that Intel 224mb integrated graphics stealing from that 1gb. leaving you 800mb for Vista, but then this budget price isn't aimed at gaming in any manner, also Vista Home Premium has Aero (special effects for Vista GUI) which might need to be toned down abit due to the low end graphics.

I would really recommend spending £22-£30ish on a 1gb stick to go into that Acer if it has a spare slot for ram.

The 80gb isn't alot but for £55-£70 you can get a 400gb-500gb external drive as this isn't designed to be a very portable laptop with that weight and those battery stats.

My only real quibble would be the screen resolution of 1280x800 (1mp) this is less pixels than what I was using my my pc over a decade ago, but if you've used it before and are happy with it, that's all that matters.

Anyone looking at sub £500 laptops should look here too:

Voted Hot.

May also worth checking out the new Vostro range ]here (although those specific ones are AMD based)

refurbs on the dixons chain websites....£369.99....

use the £10 off £300 code, go via quidco and just ordered one on my egg money credit card that is giving 7% instant cash back... so quite a good saving

postage also cheaper on dixons website....£3.95

also dont forget on Vista,,,, it can use fast USB memory sticks to add to the memory and performance

The Acer official spec says 2*512 sticks. There's only two ram slots on Aspires, so no upgrade without waste I'm afraid...

that resolution is pretty bog standard on most laptops under the £500 pound mark

I've got an Aspire, a refurb that I picked up a couple of months back... and you're right, the spec says 2 x 512mb, which is what I was expecting and why I bought 2 x 1Gb sticks to go in it.

However... 1Gb stick already in it... my dad's getting a surprise for his laptop when I go visit him now!

This spec is similar but it's a Travelmate, any idea what the difference is, other than the obvious?
