If only it had DVI............

No seriously I might buy it if it had DVI, but still excellent price HOT!!

No HDMI input on this. Not even a DVI input on this.
Would be a decent deal if it had DVI at least.

Countdown over lol

DVI/HDMI is too important these days (for most of us anyway) and Acer support will make u feel like smashing your head through the monitor (if you should ever have to call them)

has this got freeview built in? can't see that on the info on amazon.

I don't know anything about these monitors. If I buy a laptop that can play 720p stuff, could I plug this into the laptop and watch a movie using the monitor instead? And also, what if the laptop screen can't show HD stuff but this monitor can, will the movie come out in full HD?

Oh, it says vista, so does this work with xp?

I was someone who thought VGA / DVI didnt matter until I bought a 23" 1080p samsung for my wife recently. It looked terrible with VGA and there was a noticable difference when we used the DVI. I definitely wouldnt buy a screen with the res and no DVI / HDMI. The samsung was only £20 more and worth it IMO.

All the best,
Ash

in terms of playing movies using your laptop on a seperate screen.. it depends on your laptop video output: if it has a VGA output, then you can connect it to any monitor that has a VGA input (like the one in this post). if your laptop has an HDMI or DVI output, then you can connect it to a monitor with a HDMI or DVI input (like the monitor that I posted from ebuyer).

Your viewing resolution will be capped at the lowest of the two (your laptop and monitor), i.e. if your laptop can play 720p then you need a monitor which supports at least 720p resolution. If your monitor supports higher resolutions than your laptop screen and you play for example, a full HD movie, then yes, the movie will come out in full HD on your monitor.

No dvi or hdmi. Old equipment, cold. Pay a little more and get a screen with at least dvi.

and yes, I don't see why it wouldn't work with XP!

I OWN THIS MONITOR
Have done for 2+ years now and it is really good.

I play games, watch movies AND edit graphics, photos and video on it.
for under 120 its a steal.

I was planning on buying this, as I need the DVI.

Are there any better deals around at the moment than the above for a 23" wide with DVI? Was gutted I missed the Play.com deal last weekend :x

So true most people just don't understand how fugly some things look on a big screen with VGA.. text is the most noticeable one.

I have a samsung monitor, same resolution, working through only VGA, and it looks perfect, I could not find a fault in it at all.
As long as the VGA cable is decent quality, the display will look fine, trust me.
Pick up a decent VGA cable, and all will be fine.

Are you sure you're not getting confused between VGA resolution (i.e. 640x400) and VGA cable? Analogue input (i.e. VGA cable) allows almost limitless resolution ... much higher than HDMI.

Strange, that, as my 1080p TV displays just fine through VGA, it looks the same as HDMI!

I can't see the difference between DVI and VGA, the both display the same resolutions.

very tempting!

donslibi;5178812

this is a monitor worth every penny: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/154817

Have you got one of these? Does it defnintley come with 2 HDMI's?? Ebuyer says it does, but I've seen the specs from Fj-Sie site and it doesn't show HDMI ports???

Just a bit curious, cos that is a cracking price otherwise/

Yes I have and I'm using it right now. Its a brilliant screen! and yes I can confirm that it does come with two HDMI ports and a VGA port. Its actually an SL series

Has that Fujitsu got a gloss or matt screen? Says gloss, but could be only the bezel.

oh dear, where to start.

Firstly I too believe that text looks much sharper on DVI than HDMI because the computer defines a pixel value rather than sending an analogue signal that the monitor interprets. If sending an analogue signal then the quality of the signal processing performed on the monitor is very important. This is not as important when displaying a digital signal as the image has been processed already by your graphics card.
(It still confuses me why this fact does not make DVI monitors cheaper than VGA ones)

Secondly VGA doesn't allow or disallow resolutions and neither does HDMI or DVI. They are just cable/connector types. All LCDs have a native ideal resolution. Some LCDs can take higher or lower resolutions and will re-sample them so that they take up the correct amount of screen space.

you won't really notice on video, if you are using this monitor to watch videos from your laptop for example this will be fine. However I for one can see a difference particularly on text.
If using VGA its more down to the quality of your TV.

Ah, cheers. Am tempted to upgrade from my puny Benq 17inch, 4.3 to something like this - i had seen the Benq e2200hd which looks quite good as well.

Very tempted. Tho I'm not sure if I've got a large enough viewing distance in my room ....

Im less than a meter away from my screen lol, but its great for viewing/editing documents since you can view two pages at a time with no problem! as for gaming and movies.. you might want to take a step back to make the viewing experience more comfortable on the eyes.

I appreciate the above comments have covered all this ground, but as a free-thinking citizen of the United Kingdom I WILL have my say. There's always a catch. In this instance, two.

1. Acer (ewww)
2. VGA only (WTF - it's 2009)

PLEASE can anyone posting a monitor indicate whether it is HDMI, DVI or VGA-ONLY in subject line so I don't waste any more time on these "deals"

and yet the heat rating on this deal keeps going higher for some reason!.. lol :whistling:

VGA isn't too bad, I recently switched from DVI -> VGA so I could attach my PS3 to my monitor and while it's not as sharp things look equally as good after you get used to it.

Still, VGA-only is very limiting, good price though. My brother has an Acer monitor and the quality is horrifically bad, so I'll stick to my Samsung.
