this or a 32inch tv for sim racing
I bought this from Argos for 2p more! But wanted the walk-in Argos support if needed.

Bought to pair with my PS4 set up. PS4 is limited to 1080p and 60fps so it’s ideal. Personally have enjoyed it. Had to fiddle with the settings as some of the enhancements made the picture look worse (played through Horizon Zero Dawn). Once I toned the settings down it was colourful and smooth.
May wall mount it in the near future.

Only drawback was the speakers are poor and I mistook the audio in as being a headphone jack! So either live with poor sound or get a hdmi audio splitter to plug speakers in to support the image. I paid about £12 for one on amazon.

Fortunately most of the time my headphones are plugged into the controller for gaming so it’s not an issue but one I wish I had noticed before!

Hey fella, bought this monitor a day or so ago from Amazon, being delivered tomorrow. Could you link to the hdmi audio splitter you bought?

Indeed... what a load of codswallop.
Not a fan of bright screens for work and browsing but 250 cd/m² sounds pretty lacklustre for gaming etc.
Whats the difference between this and an ips screen

Faster response times i.e. less latency/motion blur but a cost to viewing angles and colour/contrast.

I personally think the ppi is too low for a monitor but it's good for the price so hot from me.
Might be also worth looking at this one with no bezel: ebuyer.com/746…e04 just £10 more.
You can get cheaper displays with IPS panels that will be a lot nicer to look at.
EDIT: apologies, thought this was 24 inches.

Also interested in this question. I'm also considering a big old used plasma from eBay....big, good response times and good blacks. They are dirt cheap now. I'll bin it when it burns in.

I can't get my hdmi audio splitter to work with my ps4....the splitter works fine with my nowtv box into an old sony dvd player surround amp combo box....but not the ps4. Don't know if it's the ps4 settings or if the output just isn't compatible with the old Denon dvd player surround amp combo box I'm using (would like to use) for the ps4. What settings you using on ps4? I think I've tried them all but there's also a bunch of settings on the Denon box as well as the settings on the splitter....so too many combinations to try everything.

Self restraint maybe is the wrong term. What is it called when you're scared of your wife?
I need a new monitor for xbox one, is there a best bang for buck 24/27" for around the £150 mark?

With TV's, post-processing can cause bad input lag. You'd need to check if the TV you are buying has a 'game' mode, as that usually disables post-processing.

1080p is the current standard for gaming. Quad HD is for high earners. 4k is for people who have won the lottery. 60hz is fine and barely noticeable

I get this. In fact when I'm playing on the lounge tv (8 year old sony 46") I'm not sure whether it's better in game mode for the lower input lag or better with motionflow set to on as its clearer when panning around but there will inevitably be a lag.

Ebay item 182746093566

Looks OK to me. £150 buy it now 50" 1080p

Most of these are collection only for obvious reasons so you have to sort on distance.

Any of you educated people know any reason this isn't a good idea?...I mean, I've been wrong before....it was the 80's...i was young and impetuous.
Not great for Freesync seeing as the freesync range is only 47-75Hz. You need a maximum that is 2.5x the minimum for decent freesync performance, like say, the Acer XF270H, which would be much more expensive to buy new.
For anyone that is thinking of buying. Argos might be the better option with the £10 voucher offer. I've just bought one from scan because I wanted the orange stand, same price.

High earners? QHD at 27 inch is only about £200, and UHD is around £300.

High framerate monitors do get kinda pricey, especially if you want it with QHD or UHD.

But if you want to maintain the same framerate you'll need to calculate 77% more if going from 1080p to 1440p, so will need to spend more on graphics card too

Yeah probably a 1060 for FHD, 1070 for QHD and 1080 for UHD.

Difference in price between the cards is awful ATM because of the Crypto Mining.

Although you could simply drop the detail to High and it would be decent on a 1060 at QHD.

My point wasn't really against 1080p, it was more that at 27 inch it doesn't look very good. At 24 inch it's much better.

My son has a NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB,in his gaming PC - Does anyone have an opinion as to whether this monitor be any good?

We are looking for the best/largest one we could get for <£150 (he has been saving money from his part time job for a monitor) - iHis gaming PC is currently plugged into a Samsung 32" TV

Thanks
I've had bad experiences with Ebuyer, they aren't good at returns if you've passed the 30 day or so mark and will send you to Acer or whoever the manufacturer is. So once you receive your monitor, check for all possible defects that may bother you and if you find any get it back to them within the return window.

This would be fine. The 1060 is a decent card, so a lot of the games may run at above 60 FPS, so you'll need to make sure V-Sync is enabled in the games to avoid screen tearing.
