Intel Celeron M 420 (1.60GHz) processor
1GB RAM, 80GB hard disk and multiformat DVD writer drive
Superb quality CrystalBrite 15.4" widescreen TFT display (1280 x 800)
ATI Radeon Xpress 200M 3D graphics with 128MB shared memory
WiFi wireless network, 10/100 Ethernet LAN and 5-in-1 flash card reader
Microsoft Windows Media Center and MS Works software

Seems an excellent price for a sub £300 laptop with a 15" screen and 1gb ram as well as having MS Works software. Ideal for students and those wanting a bit more power with multimedia (ATI X200 is a pretty decent chipset for onboard graphics). My wife has a similar Acer 5100 laptop and as budget laptops go I think they are fantastic build quality and have excellent screens.

This seems a fairly good deal.

Obviously an old model, and it does have Windows XP rather than Vista, but many people may think that is a good thing.

Cant complain at under £300

Tesco did have it (with only 512Mb of memory) for £379.97 but not any more.

Yeah thats what I thought, look around at other deals, you would be hard pushed to find a decent branded laptop for under £300 with integrated wi-fi a dvd-writer and a pretty decent onboard graphics chipset like this.

My wife who has an Acer 5100 we bought whilst in America laptop is very similar to this only real difference is a better AMD Turion Processor and it came with Vista Home Premium, which to be honest with just 1GB ram made the system crawl, I have since put XP on it and performance has totally increased, so definitely I would consider it having XP to be somewhat a bonus, at least currently.

I think this is much better than those Advent laptops for sale within the Dixons retail group, and a great buy particularly for those who live within an area where there is a Morgans too. Windows Media Center which it comes with is also a home entertainment version of XP Professional rather than XP home as well.

Good price for a low end Laptop
