But voted hot.

Mine handles 1080p fine, you just have to configure it properly and its fine. £134 is a steal

Looks like a great deal - wish it didn't have a 600p display.

Oh decisions!!! Got a Acer one 522 on pre-order at Amazon which has better cpu, graphics and a slightly bigger hard drive and a 1280x720 screen but it's nearly twice the price!

Good price, but only 3 months warranty

great price, plus it runs dd3 memory

Go on, have some heat

On eBay it says no tv out. No mention of hdmi ?

Very Hot.
Performance wise this is a great netbook; much better than every Atom based netbook.

Good review here, and apparently it handles 1080p fine.

I'm tempted, but can this run MS Office 2010?

And presumably to install it I'd need to be a standalone CD/DVD Drive?

Ofcourse.

Nah, just download the ISO (or create it yourself using a PC with an optical drive), and mount it on the netbook as a virtual drive using daemon tools lite.

Or even simpler - on your machine with an optical drive, share it, and install across the network.

Go on then give me one, sounds cheap, the only thing that made me think twice was the 3 month warranty!

does this also have the ATI Radeon HD4225?

Just ordered one. Only 6 left, be quick.

Now just 4 left, 36 sold.

Don't think this has the same CPU as the youtube video that claims it supports 1080p and it won't have the fancy graphics card. It'll probably be quite slow and without confirmation on HDMI etc it's a little fishy.

ordered one also - 2 left now

Pretty sure this has HDMI - youtube.com/wat…8Yw

EDIT: All gone now

Is the Play.com link correct?

Yeh. Someone on the previous thread purchased it and it works fine.

I've bought it so will report back when it arrives.

id deffo recommend using this codec to utilize the gpu for 1080p videos, you can get it on various dodgy sites but its only $9.99.

corecodec.com/pro…avc

just install and go into the config and tick the hardware acceleration box, then you can play your HD vids in WMP effortlessly too

ah man, i shoulda got one

Do you think these will be delivered tomorrow? I got despatch email saying it has been sent via dhl

just received mine, running initial setup.

Also, comes with A LOT of crap pre-installed. For quick and easy removal I recommend PC Decrapifier, you can remove the likes of Norton and Mcafee Trials in one go!

yeh doing the initial setup too on mine then i will test 1080p

condition wise, its pretty good, no major scratches etc, box is huge for such a small netbook lol

Hoping mine wil be here tomoz!!:D

ok, bit of an update incase people are searching via google or on HUKD.

got rid of windows starter and put Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit on it (awaiting 2gb stick from play), drivers downloaded from: support.acer.com/us/…469 and am very impressed with how fast it feels.

looks like the netbook has a 12gb recovery partition too (which i though id leave incase i need to roll back for any reason)

this netbook is awesome! my main reason for buying it is to play back HD files and the onboard HD4225 does a fantastic job of it.

downloaded Media Player Classic (home cinema) and cant get it not to play any 1080p files. it even copes with the infamous Bird_42_MBit_ABR_(+-1.5 MBit).mkv 109.6 MB scene (http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/3029-1080p-test-mkv-examples-from-birds-scene-earth-movie/) without any drop frames and only 20% CPU utilisation.

hope this helps

Mine is as sluggish as hell at the moment, even though I've used decrapifier. 2gb ram now on order.

Not impressed with Windows 7 starter either. How much was the upgrade to 7 Home Premium? Does it give any performance improvement?

I already had a home premium license so I used that.

I'd recommend a fresh install of windows. Will do it good. Seems to be very snappy even with the 1gb ram.

Well, I've been playing around with it for a couple of days, and it still hasn't got much quicker. It struggled to play any video, let alone @1080.
I can't reinstall windows as I doesn't come with discs and the backup on the machine doesn't work.
The only way I've found to make this thing quicker it to use readyboost. Only problem with that is that the only SD card that seems to work is a 5 year old 1gb crucial card. None of my other newer cards worked, even my class 10 32gb card is apparently too slow! Trying to find reliable info on what cards will work for readyboost is a bit hit and miss.
For surfing the net it's fine though, and with a few tweaks it plays lower res videos OK, so it does what i want (just).

Are you using media player classic home cinema?

Also you playing files over network? Or on netbook hard drive?

Yeah, media player classic home cinema, and the video files are on the hard drive.

very odd mate, not sure what is happening there then!

I've seen on another site that the 521 can be upgraded to 4GB - anyone tried it?
forum.notebookreview.com/har…tml

There's also a specific listing for a 4GB upgrade card on the bay.

I'm sure I've read that Windows 7 starter doesn't recognise more than 2gb, therefore you'd need to upgrade to Home Premium or replace with a different OS such as Linux.

I've put 2gb of RAM in, and it seems OK. Still can't play HD without it stuttering, although I've encoded a movie at 1024x600 (the actual screen resolution for the netbook) and it plays and looks great.

Got the 4GB (Corsair CMSO4GX3M1A1333C9) - easy to install and is recognised by 64bit Windows.
Huge difference to the default 1GB - windows absolutely flies now (although 2GB would prolly do for most).
