I spotted that very laptop earlier today while hunting for refurb. deals.
It caught my attention, but didn't seem good enough to warrant me posting it as a deal.

The 9300M GS is nothing special, if it had been a 9600M GS......
The CPU is the older Merom core, which is less power efficient & has a slower FSB.
Obviously refurbs. are inferior to new, and the early Acer's (which I consider this to be one of) were reknowned for poor build quality.
The screen is nice & big; but the resolution is poor.

Which leads nicely onto the one redeeming feature - the bluray drive, uncommon to find in such a cheap laptop - however, it is somewhat devalued by the relatively low resolution screen. (and no HDMI out)

All in all, I don't think it's particularly special for the price.

This one on the other hand was worthy of posting :-
]Better CPU, much better GPU and £40 cheaper, but no bluray drive.
Shame there were only 3 in-stock, and are now all gone.

Acer + Vista + Refurb + Dixons. I'll pass on all counts thanks!

For a refurb? Is this really a good deal?

Blu-ray - with no HDMI output :?

Blu-ray - with no HDMI output :?

you read my mind

conclusion ! i am afraid COLD !!

Blu-ray - with no HDMI output :?

It does have a DVI output though so 1080p is still possible with an adapter.
However, getting more than 2 channel audio seems to be a bigger problem.
