IPS or TN screen?

IPS or TN screen?

That's a good question, which I don't know the answer too (but someone else might?). :-D

Eithe way, it's a FHD (Full HD) + it's under £300, for a well known + a more than fully specced quality product.

You can't really go that far wrong, the way I'm seeing it?. :-)
Superb deal
Would this be any good for minecraft?

I believe it would be perfect for that. :-D

The AMD Ryzen 3 chipset has wayyyyyy better integrated GPU graphics (it's main/key selling point in-fact?), than it's next nearest INTEL i3 equivalents, I believe?.

And what is Minecraft, if NOT graphics hungry?, hehehehehe.

And it's FHD (Full HD) + plentyyyyyy of storage space too (1TB to be exact).

I don't know what the minimum requirements for Minecraft are, but I'm more than certain that this meets more than just the bare minimum requirements for it, or whatever?, lol.

So you're sorted. :-)

Thanx, lol, much appreciated lol. :-D
Is it possible to increase the ram?
I would advise anyone to pay a little extra and get 8gb ram minimum - ideal for day to day tasking. For the price I’ve voted this deal hot
There was a similar Aspie 3 the other day like the one i had from work, just click on the start menu starts the very audial fan!

Not worth going for the Ryzen over Intel unless you want the budget gpu power.

The screen panels are not very bright either so its not the nicest thing to watch shows on or look at all day.

That's what I thought when I purchased my Asus FX503 amour3k, which has the crappiest TN FHD screen I've ever used. I've learned the lesson, Screen Qualily > Slightly better specs.

You can upgrade the RAM with another 4gb or 8gb sodimm stick. According to notebook check (it may not be the same model) it has 2 RAM slots. notebookcheck.net/Ace…tml
This is the last generation Ryzen processor rather than the latest Zen 2 line. Not worth it at this price esp with only 4GB RAM and a crappy HDD

There are no Zen 2 mobile chips yet. The bigger issue is it's the dual-core Ryzen 3 with Vega 3 graphics, you really want the quad-core Ryzen 5 with Vega 8, it's way faster and not a lot more money.
Do you get word etc with Microsoft computers these days?

Do you get word etc with Microsoft computers these days?

Yes and no.

It's only 60 Day Trial's of MS Office pre-installed on Window's system's these Day's ...

The Day's of the fully fledged MS Office pre-installed upon ANY Windows system is almost alllllllll but gone/disappeared, etc etc, unfortunately. :-(

Dandy that, huh?, lol.

I suppose the online one is good enough for what I need anyway I did a IT course and was quite impressed with the Windows 10 better than I remember it before I went to Mac

Fair enough, but if you're really into 'utilising' some of those new found IT skill's of yours, or whatever?, then ...

Personally speaking, I'd be also (or rather instead, etc), be looking for some freebie MS Office 'alternatives' too, or whatever?.

Like, eg. Open Office, Libre Office, WPS/Kingsoft Office, etc etc etc?.

And alllllll those 3 'alternatives' are for free too ...

You're welcome. :-)
Yes, this is only the 2200u (2.7Ghz) version which, although shows a higher base clock, is inferior to the 2300u ryzen 3, which is a quad core and although clocked at 2Ghz, will boost to the same frequency. So be careful. With the inferior CPU, mechanical hard drive and only 4Gb RAM, there are much better alternatives out there for around the same or a few quid more... OP mentioned fan noise? I have the HP Pavilion version with 256Gb M.2 SSD, Ryzen 3 2300u and 8Gb Ram. Fans are constantly blowing as they are 99% running in turbo mode and need to be cooled. Gaming wise, they are nowhere near their desktop brethren either. Eg Just Cause 3, 720p low settings and literally a couple of fps only! Good everyday machines, but struggle badly in reality for any sort of gaming. Bear in mind the CPU is also sharing your 4Gb RAM also. All this said, at £299 you are only at Chromebook / Netbook money? But go the extra £40 or so and you can do so much better, if you afford to? Probably a 40% performance increase in CPU alone, plus SSD benefits and RAM benefits... Mesh, for example have the better versions in stock.... amongst many...

Thank you, very informative. Do you have any links for the better machines you stated, which
are not much more money? Tia
Thanks Aidan

I gathered it was from a wee while back, as I haven't heard (anywhere), of chipsets like the AMD Athlon, for quite a while now ... lol.

It's all good though. :-D

Do you happen to also have any non HP laptop example's too, by any chance?.

As I ( + a few others on here besides), have had 'issues' with that brand for it's consumer laptop's (on and off), over the x-Year's ...

(Though others may care to disagree, or whatever), Lenovo laptop's, and/or Acer laptop's (in my opinion anyway), have tended to have been built a wee bit better, etc etc?.

So, if you have some comparable/notable example's of them too, perhaps?, eg. Lenovo, Acer, or similar? (Asus, or whatever?), then that could also prove mightily helpful too, thanx.
