That is a nice deal considering what your getting - Vista Home Basic is not ideal but you can easily install Windows XP or 7 Beta onto it to get a speed boost in terms of overall performance.

Heat from me mate - ideal for home usage and internet access.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

It's cheap for a notebook but would be better suited for Windows XP or Linux, than Vista. Unfortunately, XP or Linux doesn't run on Acer without overheating problems (same for model 5315). For this reason, luke-warm.

Could be wrong but I remember seeing a blog post with steps to control the fan via Linux - I'll see if I can hunt out the link to it but it was done under Ubuntu.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

Do you know what a hot deal is ? I very much doubt you do.

This is a hot deal regardless of what runs on it or what doesnt run on it or how hot it gets.

Yeah but it wont run Crysis 2 so it can't be a good deal :whistling:. I just hope that this is nationwide and not a store specific clearance, I'd happily have another as a back up at that price!

"curious as to why they would run warm on certain OS`s????"

Funniest thing I've read today.
My car overheats if I buy petrol from Shell

This would be a steal at £100 more, IMO.
Cracking find, heat added

there are lots of aps that can control fan speeds - i use this one

FGS, I can tell you, VISTA RUNS JUST FINE!!!! Your biggest problem will be finding one so dont worry about the OS!!!

Not voting coz you are very unlikely to find it elsehere coz it is a clearance item

What store was this and how many did they have? Thanks.

Please call 0870 167 0818 for double memory offer

Hemel Hempstead. The customer service assistant brought 2 to the desk after I paid and handed one over to me. I asked him if he had many left and he replied that the last one was behind the CS desk.

acerdirect.co.uk/Ace…asp

none at stairfoot or wath tesco in south yorks

Smoking hot - though I bet there were only 2 of them @ that price in the entire of the UK.

You should have bagged them both when you had the chance; if only to sell on :whistling:

Nowhere to be seen
An accurate link would have been p[referable to such a general link

"Processor - Intel Celeron M 530 / 1.73 GHz" ... nice

Bargain for the price. Voted hot.
Shame there's no Tesco around here

Looks like a great price, so voted HOT. Oh what , it won't run Crysis? Come on...

If you wanna run Crysis go ahead and spend a grand on a laptop...

None in Wigan or Bolton,But 6 in St Helen`s Gutted really wanted 1 and St Helen`s a bit far good luck!!

It is clearance, if you check the website they are advertising a "price blitz" on technology

direct.tesco.com/q/b…spx.

Apologies if the link doesn't work newbie at this.

Also the yellow labels are only produced when it's a permanent reduction

The are all ex display models that have been on the self they had about 9 laptops in swansea all ranging from £100 to £170 the battrey life will be rubbish because they are plugged in all the time, I vote cold because the battrey will be dead in them!
