Now £469 in the clearance sale.

8GB Ram
128GB SSD
1TB HDD
Processor Intel Core i5
Processor Core Count Dual-Core

Link to other Windows laptops on sale from Tesco Direct. Although oddly, this one doesn't appear in the list.

I don't know anything about laptops, so gratefully looking for opinions if it's any good at the price. I know it's not quad core, but the processor speed and storage seems good.

To be honest, I'm probably just going to end up running Photoshop, Illustrator, Corel Draw etc. on it.

Cheers all.

Good price but not latest generation. But heat added for price alone
They have bad screens as I remember. So beware
Looks decent, just a pity it's a 7th gen i5 rather than 8th gen, but still decent for the price
Hot. i5, 2 disks (one a SSD), FHD resolution, 8GB RAM. Shame its and Acer
I need a quality laptop for work with cracking specs (SSD, latest gen, long battery, slim, light etc) with a £500 budget. Don't mind spending a bit more if it's top notch.

Suggest away please as most laptop deals I looked for on here have expired.
i5 8th Gen it's the same price, would get that if you're not a gamer.
That's very good price.

Oh, Acer R11 at £199, Swift 3 at £450. Some really great deals on TD at the moment.
Very sad to see TD closing.

If you can stretch a little, that Acer Nitro 5 from Currys the other day had a much more powerful GTX 1050 but depends if you need the GPU.

Everything should run on it within expectations but the MX150 is entry-level discrete graphics, so you might have to turn stuff down, check the requirements first.

Do you know which of the Acers would perform better at editing videos?
I just spent a relative fortune on an unknown Chinese gaming laptop I think had I seen this I may have bought this instead. That being said I don't know how well this will run what I'd want to play and so I may have to keep my main desktop. Anyway great price.

Looking for same advice. Quote or pm me with any recommendations thanks
I have this, got it from the US before the pound crashed again. It’s nice to have a 150MX for the money, but everything else sucks, the screen is so poor.

Not really what he's looking for, he wanted a premium, lightweight and slim laptop for business meetings, the gaming monster Nitro 5 would look totally out of place.

I assumed he wanted that GPU otherwise £500 is quite a decent budget for those other things (with no GPU) and plenty of options out there. If I had £500 I would probably look for a second-hand Dell XPS 13 or Lenovo X1 Carbon but I don’t know his exact criteria and if used is an option? But yes if no GPU needed and for carrying around lots then the Nitro 5 is overkill.
mx150 is ok but 2 core cpu is bad
i've pulled out at the last minute from various laptop deals lately because when i've done my homework on the specs i've discovered that they have no ethernet/lan cable port, only wifi.....for heaven's sake why????

Extra height to accommodate port maybe? If attaching an ethernet cable it's not a massive inconvenience to add a usb+>ethernet adapter in the mix.

They've got an extra 15% off atm with a code on the homepage.

It's a good buy.
This is very tempting, as I've been looking at an HP with similar price, although doesn't have the added gaming specs... I'm looking at it for coding though. Is Acer a slightly better make than HP?

Depends the type of work you are going to be doing on it.

Pay no attention to people saying get gaming one they are more bulky.

I can see fair few people don't know anything moaning about it not being latest gen if you are going to moan then it should be that it is U version but look at the price this is good offer compared to what else is about.

I would suggest staying clear of HP unless you go for the series like elitebook
Go for this or is a premium of £130 worth it for: box.co.uk/NX.…tml
Good deal. Much better than the MSI someone posted last week.
There seems to be a lot of conflicting information about the screens on these Acer aspire 5’s.

The one everyone says is dire is the TN panel which from what I can see the mx150 variant doesn’t come with, Tesco list this as having the ips display whereas all other aspire 5’s they have doesn’t make mention of it.
notebookcheck.net/Acer-Aspire-5-A515-51G-7200U-MX150-FHD-Laptop-Review.240090.0.html

As noted here the ips variant is actually decent ,if anyone actually has this model from Tesco’s it would be good to get confirmation it does actually come with that ips panel?

currently on an Acer aspire (i5) which I have owned for 7 years.

Screen is perfect although I could do with a proper Acer battery to replace my generic one

They most certainly used another screens 7y ago. So, don't just assume that screen is good, but check!
Unfortunately you can't upgrade storage easily on this model (or the other Acer Aspire 5 deal) , which is a bit of a joke. Acer couldn't be bothered fitting a SATA connector nor HDD caddy in the HDD expansion bay.. so you need to first purchase the parts from Acer UK Spares (HDD BRACKET 33.GP4N2.002 ,HDD CABLE 50.GP4N2.004), disassemble the laptop and install to the motherboard.

A bit of chat about it here : community.acer.com/en/…133and instructions for fitting the SATA cable to the motherboard here :uk.answers.acer.com/app…260

I'll be returning mine on principle and won't be purchasing any Acer products in the future.
