I'd take a 1TB Hard Drive over a 128Gb/256GB SSD

Far better off with a SSD than HDD. I only have a 128 and it runs like a dream, power ups are rapid. I have a portable hard drive for media storage. Running a OS from a HDD is old school.

Looks good. Anyone with knowledge gonna tell me otherwise?
Bought this just before Christmas, infact i'm actually typing this on it.

Good for everyday stuff, but if you want gaming look elsewhere.

That's true ,but as a non gaming amateur , I'd just like an SSD to be standard these days .

SSDs should be more common nowadays, once you experience using a laptop with a SSD you'll never want to go back to HDD.

Now listen here young scamp

Well, actually other than missing an SSD it seems like an alright deal.
No SSD, dual core and a TN screen, Each one of these three is a reason to have find enough good points to overlook any one of them. All three combined at this price is not great.
It does seem almost criminal to have a reasonably high spec only to be crippled with a mechanical hard drive. Not only a far nicer user experience but also the shock resistance on SSD's is another big plus for me on a laptop.

I often wonder if those that say they prefer larger storage of mechanical drives have ever actually experienced an SSD because I suspect they haven't.

Actually, it has a 1080p IPS display. Also, it has an m.2 bay so you can easily add an SSD later as the boot drive while keeping the storage of the 1TB hdd.

Additionally, it may be dual-core, but it's a pretty speedy Kaby Lake i7 with hyper threading. The benchmarks for the i7 7500u are respectable.

Honestly, at this price, this is a decent buy. I don't know what else you would expect from a laptop at £500?

Hope you are right re the display because on the Argos QA section it is stated as TN. If IPS it is a bit better,.

Yeah never trust Argos's Q&A section. In that same place, a member of staff said shared graphics and integrated graphics are the same thing... So it has both

I got my info from Acer's website based on this being the Aspire 5 A515-51

If this all checks out, it's a good laptop for the price

Very true
I reckon I got a fair deal with a Dell Inspirion 13 7370, i5 8250u, 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM

This would have been a good buy if I wasn't bothered about the screen size 15.6 a bit too big for uni and travelling
Without labouring the point and only because of the differing information, this has been posted before and on the last page of the thread below somone states it is TN. It is not for me anyway but in case it matters to anyone else, I would verify before ordering or it may be another Argos return.
