The Acer Aspire one at dabs.com at £199 is a better option IMHO. Remember with both that MFR's quoted battery life of around 3 hours probably means in practice you get 2 hours before you have to seek out a mains supply.

good deal

Good deal.Heat added. Also this price in Dixons if you don't have a PC World close to you.

Personally I would go for the 751 for £249, although that is a bit bigger.

I wouldn't touch a 531 or 751....they have issues with the graphics card. A very well known problem with these netbooks.

And yes i have owned both!! lol:oops:

Seems a bit steep, I've just bought a Dell mini 1011 with similar spec from Dell Outlet for £175

Id never have an acer aspire again! awful awful thing

Depends what you want your Netbook to do.

ALL netbooks are a compromise - none of them do what their larger cousins are capable of.

A lot of this DOES seem to be down to the stuff Intel have produced for 'ultra mobile' computing in terms of both processors and graphics chips however.

Adding another 1GB of RAM will help a few issues, but not the grpahics performance by much.

The only problem I've found is that none of the netbooks with an Intel GMA500 chip can run BBC iPlayer (and similar iPlayers) smoothly.

Acer quality has improved - much better than they used to be.

Did you mean 731 or 751?
When I checked PC World/Currys, the 751 (11.6") was £299 with 3 cell battery.
Comet had the 751 for £249 with 3 cell or £299 with 6 cell though.

As I understand it, there is no hardware decoding for flash video, so it doesnt matter what graphics card you throw at it. This is why the new ION netbooks will play 1080p mp4 without breaking a sweat but still struggle with high res flash videos. With flash its all down to your CPU and RAM.

[FONT=Verdana]Agree and IF your not wanting to purchase it from Deal Extreme (think that's the reseller's name in Hong Kong) you can also purchase one for £5.00p or less from Amazon UK and also Play UK.

Edit - Listed below is an example one from Play.com, which you can get cashback for from Quidco and TopCashBack as well - it's going for £4.99p and includes free delivery as well.
