599 left for this NEW laptop.

The cpu looks like it is a single core Intel Celeron M 540 1.8GHz - I wouldn't like to run Vista on this. Cheap but you get what you pay for - I would think the price would drop further based on the number they have available.

I saw this on the ebay site earlier and I just was not sure it is a hot deal at all. Still not sure either!
£200 for a laptop is great, the screen is great, the hd is small, the chip is ok. I do not like Vista. I Overall, I think I would get a cheaper netbook for myself from Ebay Argos and save £50 but for say the likes of my mum, the bigger screen wins. Not a cold deal but not the hottest either.

200 quid for that is ok, but it would be no good for anyone looking for performance. vista doesn't help this laptop at all... 7 or xp would have been better alternatives.

Spec looks pretty much the same as the Gateway (owned by Acer) laptop I'm typing this on. It's fine for word processing, surfing, emails, etc. But the chip/graphics aren't really up to playing full-screen videos.

Vista's runs OK (but not blisteringly fast obviously), as it's only Vista Basic on this one there's no Aero to slow it down which will help.

As a netbook alternative with a bigger screen or a basic word-processing machine it seems pretty good.

Not convinced it's a bargain though. I only paid £250 over 2 years ago when Vista was the current OS and this spec wasn't quite so far from cutting edge.

Wish I'd waited, I paid £4 delivery.
