Seems like a good price for a starter laptop. Can't complain really about the spec - decent amount of ram and 64 bit OS, free basic laptop bag as well.

GOOD FIND OP HEAT ADDED
worth purchasing
VERY GOOD FOR PRICE
tempted by this as the spec is good for the money, I was going to buy bits and build a pc for £100 more, but at this price for a laptop it seems to good to ignore.

Only reservation is specs differ between ebay and ebuyer on this model, ebay is better.

Anyone verify or opinions?
forget it, being a plank, rechecked ebuyer further down is the model we are looking at on this thread, and this is £30 cheaper than ebuyer directly.
I took delivery of the 3Gb/320Gb one that was on for £230 last week and it's a decent machine. No idea about durability but spec-wise it's good. I've got a Lenovo T500 that I use for work and it's got similar performance but the Acer is a hell of a lot less (ok the Lenovo is business class and this is not).
I haven't got used to the keyboard yet though, they've squeezed a numeric keypad in which was unnecessary and the keys are 'faux scrabble tile'
Wonder if I can return my 320gb one & get this?!
decent machine & price, but i'm not doing any more biz with Ebuyer.
Pity about the battery life, would been nice if they could have put 5600mAh on it
This looks a good buy to me.I have just purchased one of these as my current laptop is almost 4 years old and needs replacing..so voted HOT from me.
Where's the 'Celeron is crap' brigade?

Looks like a fair deal to me
Seems a pretty good laptop if ure looking for something cheap just for browsing the net,for £250 u cant exactly expect wonders plus 4GB of ram and 500HDD,seen alot worse for that money..voted hot.
Celeron is crap, happy now?

tell them its an iCeleron, if the brand has an i in front of it its obviously very good
Quick comparison of CPU with my core2duo T6400 - only diff is mine has 2mb cache and this has 1mb: ark.intel.com/Com…04,
This is a very good laptop for the price... have some heat....
I've been really tempted by this but as far as I can see it does not have a Gigabit Ethernet port so think I'll just wait a bit longer.

Excellent value for money though - voted hot.

Same here.
Great deal, thanks for posting this OP, we needed a new computer in the office and not only is it £10 less than the cheapest full laptop from Save On Laptops, it's also faster and comes with a carry case.

The Celeron CPU is more than fast enough for most tasks (especially as it's dual-core).

They're going fast
Nice find, bought one thankx.....
cracking deal, father in law gave me a budget of £200 - £230 to get him a laptop, need to ring him and see if he can stretch! X) (daughter chose smiley)

From my point of view nothing and I've been dealing with them for ~4 years now.
I've got the Aspire 5735 and it's not bad!

Ordered this one for 'the old dear'. Cracking deal!
I have always bought Acer and they have always been well built and 100% reliable. Recommended

Not me. Either you were lucky with ACER or I was unlucky with them.
I won't buy ACER again. Only had nothing but trouble with them. Their customer service is rude to put it mildly. Their RTB warranty is no use as my machine was always permanently there at ACER for a few months (or in transit) as they kept returning it saying it was fixed, but the problem was still there. In the end warranty ran out, so could not return it. But by then I have given up trying anyway. Once my Laptop was sent to an incorrect address somewhere else a couple of hundred miles from me as they put the wrong address on the box!
Once one of my laptop's internal components had become out of place, which overheated burning through the plastic bottom (about a 20p piece diameter) and also damaged the sofa in the process. Had a PDA also from ACER needing support, but they were less than helpful.
I used to be an ACER convert as you can't beat them for the spec you get for your money. But after all the after sales hassle, disapointing repairs and rudeness of staff I had with them, I won't go for ACER again.
I don't doubt you had a good experience, but my experience was very poor with ACER.:(

I think it's marketing-speak for "it has a screen"

The only (serious) complaint against Celeron dual core is power saving. You are unlikely to find a Celeron laptop with great battery life but that's not a concern for most folks.
