£100 off the normal price, free delivery with a simcard and £5 voucher if you havent already used it:santa:

was looking at this its a very good price, but decided against it due to the processor being the base dual core processor with only 512kb cache

went for one from dixons today for £100 more but with a core2duo with 2mb cache and 40 gig more in the hard drive.

too technical for me lol, just saw 2gb of memory which i thought was quite alot ;-)

might wait for one of the good dell deals on a laptop where you can choose XP as not too keen on Vista

i think the amd lvl2 cache 512kb is comparable with intels 2mb. i could be wrong. i think the pipeline on the amd is much shorter so it all evens out. though, i could be talking rubbish lol. its just how i have understood it.

Added image, price and retailer name to thread title...

hotted

Wow, design wise that actually looks very good for a budget machine. Seems pretty good for general work and a bargain price too.

No, I dont think the AMD is comparable to Intel at all. AMD are still behind Intel when we compare the same class processors together. And thats probably not taking into account the heat and power eating the AMD is.
