Not so good for an open box.

Most of the parts used for the ACER laptops are refurbished ones which dies out around the expiry of the warranty time. I personally bought an ACER and went through enough of 3 replacements within the first 6 months. Those who wants to buy are advised to read enough reviews before 'risking' to try an acer product. Have not voted though.....

And it's Acer.

And with Vista Home Basic there's no free upgrade to Windows 7 option (so I'm led to believe)

ATi HD3200 is good enough for HD but a bit pants for games as it is essentially the integrated chip with some deidcated memory by the sounds of it.

Reasonable price rather than amazing I'd say.

This is an interesting comment. And you have proof of that?

Link please? should make some good reading.

I'm sure Acer don't put refurbished parts in new laptops or pc's and if they do, under the sale and supply goods act that would have to be stated as in the description. But you give a link so I can read the bit about the refurbished parts in new Acer's please?

We recently got this laptop from argos (£379) but when we got it home and read the spec we were really happy to find it actually had:
Vista home premium
4 gig Ram
16.9 Acer CineCrystal,LED screen
Dolby home theater virtual surround
Blue ray disc player
And the above mentioned HDMI output
Not sure why the spec is better than advertised but we very happy with it!
