A good deal for a i3 laptop with 6GB RAM.
The speakers are *stereo* unlike the 5742 models. But in-built bluetooth is not available, which anyway can be addressed using a bluetooth dongle.

Seems to be a one day only deal!

I don;t know why people are voting this cold. Please state a reason, when you vote cold.

acer has bad reputation, and i got a asus i5 under 300 pounds which is much cheaper

Laptop aside, I'm tempted to vote all things "Play" cold that they are offering in this promo. Making money off the back of Remembrance Day is nothing short of warped.

No offence to OP, but Play can stick it where the sun doesn't shine!

I got the Acer 5732,similar specs with 500GB hdd from tesco for £199(I was one of the lucky ones). Can vouch for its build quality. Hibernates in 7 seconds. Starts up in 20(includes the password entry). This is at par with highly overpriced Macs. It is pretty lightweight too. Can not complain.

Agree ! Acer is not bad at all.
That's very hot deal for £199. May I know if the offer still exist in tesco ? from which store you bought this ?

Please folks, before you post a new deal, accept that unless it is a 'crazy' low price, a first generation i3 (or i5 or i7 for that matter) laptop is not going to get heat. 2nd Generation SandyBridge is a big leap forward.

I got it from Orpington Tesco who rarely have amazing deals. I got lucky. I saw a guy in front of me get 2 toshiba netbooks and an 15" acer and the till showed £399. Asked the price for both and got Netbook for £99 but returned it as it was faulty. Cant fault the acer though. Absolutely love the machine. My first alppy was Acer which was crap and had to return but that was 6 years back.

Good spec, but it's from Play.com - I won't vote either way, but I definitely wouldn't gamble on buying anything from Play.com

So it's play that brings the hotness down as per the comments... But I don't know why a duplicate post got 39 degrees when this got -26.

When there are posts that quote near £300 prices for an Intel Pentium P600, why not an i3-370M? If that is the case, there won't be any laptops with P600 or Celeron processors. An i3-370M is a decent processor for everyday use. I cannot find a deal for a laptop with i3 coupled with 6 GB of RAM at this price.

Why are there so many eejits on this site?

Time after time they wander onto a thread, make an outrageous claim like this, without any details, and even after requests they still fail to return to give substantiation.
