The graphics let it down.

The graphics let it down.

Agreed, but it depends what you want it for

All in all, a nicely spec'd machine for the price! Pity it's an Acer

No matter how you express it, in a modern machine the GPU is just as important as the CPU. It is no-longer an accessory required only by die-hard gamers.

7ista Aero,
HD video decoding,
Google Earth, Flash 10+, Java, etc
Even visualizations in Winamp use the GPU now.

I agree with you... except the necessity to use Windows 7/Vista, &/or any Google software products.

I just thought it amusing to quote the other thread.

I wouldn't buy another Acer again after buying 3 in the last 6 years & each one failed due to over-heating. The most expensive of which (Acer Ferrari 4005 WLMi) arrived with a faulty AC/DC power brick (that I diagnosed & informed Acer support about) but I had to send everything back (in the original packaging) for their own testing. 6 weeks (and countless 'phone calls) later after they lost it in their "repair centre", found it, lost it again (seriously!), my machine was returned (with just a new power brick) but it was marked & sent back in a random cardboard box.

If I was buying a new laptop then I'd definitely want a dedicated graphics card.

But for what my little cousins will be using it for (facebook, itunes etc) this is fine.

hey is this the best netbook for the price atm? have seen msi win offers and some for the samsun is it?

If you keep trying to buy laptops with dedicated graphics cards then you will probably run into heating problems much more often.

For my purposes and budget, I'd much rather have a cheap integrated graphics card that does 95% of the tasks I need a laptop for and leave the high definition decoding work to my desk top system which has a high end graphics card but also has the space for air flow and 7 fans cooling the system - even though my desktop sounds like a tractor, at least I know it will stay cool.

My laptop on the other hand, with it's cramped internal structure - well, I'd expect it to melt if it had the power and performance of my desk top! Gimme a laptop with basic integrated graphics any day. The latest integrated graphics chips were designed with aero in mind anyways, and can easily handle high definition content. Heck, even my netbook with its atom processor can handle HD content. Ok, not full HD, but then there's little point in using a sub-42 inch screen to watch full hd. You won't see very much difference

has this got the bluray drive built in
