Can you still buy this and get the "free" upgrade to windows 7?

I thought that offer ended when windows 7 came out.

No free upgrade. Cost £12. Don't buy Vista, too many problems with upgrade.

IT says its a free upgrade as long as you buy an acer laptop before jan 31st 2010.

Well, you try and get it then. They will charge you £12 for the pleasure of you having to do the upgrade for them with all the problems attached.

I've upgrade my own laptop to windows 7 from vista home premium and can hardly tell any difference.

What does concern me is that the 64 bit version seems to be pre-installed on the new lappys.

My original query was for that I need to buy a new laptop for a customer.

How misleading, you're absolutly right though, there's a £12 handling and delivery charge for the upgrade.

It's not misleading as such. It has an asterisk on the price and at the bottom of the page to see what the asterisk means it says " ** Shipping and handling fees may apply ".
I must say, I am in the market for a fairly good laptop for my son and after reading up about Vista I will get one with Windows 7 already installed. That's why there are a number of computers reduced in price with Vista on them.

.

There's an Acer at Tesco with Windows 7 installed, 160gb hard drive & 3gb ram for £347.00

They've just lowered the price!! now £328.00!!

I have Vista on my main PCs, and have just tried W7 on a laptop, and as you say, (to the user) there is little differnce. Never ran Vista on the laptop, but it is fine, although just installed W7 on a Netbook for a friend, and it is just as tediously slow on that as XP was! :whistling:

claiming something is free in bold letters when it isn't is misleading in my book, maybe they should say upgrade to windows 7 and pay only the handing & p&p instead of hiding it in the small print:whistling:

as ive been using windows 7 for a few months its not worth the hype so im hoping the vista installed laptops will go even cheaper so i can stick my xp on one and have a real flying machine:)
