Just because you paid £549 and it was only £410 at heathrow does NOT mean that its a good deal.
PC world charge over the top on computers anyway.
it is hard to tell if it is a good deal without a more detailed spec list

yeh its a great deal, surpasses the hp offer a few days ago for £5 more. obviously few will benefit as its only in t4 but good deal none the less, heat from me

Have you got to fly somewhere to get this? may be why its getting voted cold

Or do a shopping search like me and see that it is a bargain 120 cheaper … Or do a shopping search like me and see that it is a bargain 120 cheaper than anywhere else,Why does heathrow mean its a cold deal?

Sorry not directly aimed at you

no problem

Do you know the answer to the question i asked... do you need to be flying to get this deal?

Was that VAT inclusive ispookie? That is, was it available from a shop accessible to the public before you go through the gate?
I'm just trying to establish whether it was VAT & duty exempt for outgoing passengers which would of course make it a lot cheaper than equivalent machines outside the terminal (and therefore not such a great deal).

I believe its probably the same as the laptop below?

£499.99 at Dixons!

Would be interesting to know if its available to non-travelling customers?

PS. out of interest what do people make of this laptop? Bang for buck wise seems pretty good...and yes I know its acer but a similarly spec'd Sony Vaio E Series is £589.99 at amazon. Is it worth the extra 90 quid?

Cheers.

Bang for buck, it's a fair price I agree. As to whether the Sony is worth the extra £90 - that's more subjective. If you are the sort of person that prefers to buy a Rolex over a Timex even though they both tell the time to the same degree of accuracy, then yes I guess so.

Whilst I do like Sony machines (especially their screens), I bought an Acer myself.

If the shop the original poster is Dixons Tax Free. They have a website: dixonstravel.co.uk/ind…ome where you can check products online, phone the shop and reserve it to pick it up. I checked online for the acer aspire 5740g offer but couldn't find it - maybe they don't have all stock to view online though. They have tax free stores at all the main UK airports Gatwick, Birmingham, Edinburgh etc.
