The Acer Aspire 5742 15.6" Laptop with Core i5 is a powerful laptop, which is great for everyday computing tasks and entertainment on the move.

The laptop comes with a Intel Core i5 processor, with 2.4GHz of processing speed, 3GB of memory and 320GB of hard drive space, making it possible to open up and work with multiple applications at the same time, stream and download several pieces of content and store a large amount of multimedia content that’s available at your fingertips.

The sleek and stylish laptop opens up to reveal a 15.6” HD LCD screen, which displays movies and videos in a 16:9 ratio (so you don’t get any of those annoying black bars around the edge of the screen). High-definition audio combines with great images to deliver a high-def multimedia experience. However, if you want to share your content on a larger screen, maybe if you’re having a film night with mates or sharing your holiday photos with family, you can connect the Acer Aspire 5742 15.6" Laptop with your HDTV via an HDMI cable. You can also share moments with friends and family via the built-in Acer Crystal Eye high-definition webcam, which the sits above the 15.6” screen. Chat services like Skype and Google Talk can be used over a Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection, which the laptop supports.

The addition of a webcam also means that you can make further use of the three USB 2.0 ports for printers, scanners and other computer peripherals. Furthermore, there’s a 2-in-1 card reader, which supports SD and MultiMediaCards, so you can easily upload content from your portable media devices, such as your digital camera.

what gen is it - anyone know?
This will be generation 1, the 450m I think. Although most of the Aspire 5742's come with a i3 370m 2.4Ghz so check before you buy that they haven't made a mistake listing as an i5.
