Don't know if this will be of use to anybody but I just bought an Acer Aspire 5750 BE from Comet for £427.49

The price online and instore is £449.99 but if you enter the code 5PC at checkout this will reduce the price by 5% - this is available to collect instore but you must use the voucher online as they wouldn't discount it even though i showed them the price at checkout from their website.

Nice price for i5, USB 3.0 and 1TB HDD compared to the £399 laptops.
So many i5 deals using almost identical specifications, all claiming absurdly inflated recommended retail prices, to make people feel they are getting the worlds biggest bargain in price fixing Britain at £399, £399, £399, £399. At the same time, much as I loathe the anti competitive pricing of the big high street stores, the USB3.0, decent quality webcam and 1TB hard drive on this model are tempting, for not much more. A grudging hot!
why do they always have to ruin them by not putting a good craphics card in though.

but good deal anyway

What's the Intel hd 3000 like as a graphics card .. would i be right in thinking that a dedicated 1gb card is better ?

I just purchased the very same on Saturday, shame I was unaware of the discount code.
However, the Hendon store had a red version on display. When I got home to my surprise mine was blue! Taking a closer look at their website they have slightly different codes and are sold at different prices as the specs are different the blue has the code BE at the end.
Initially dissappointed in the colour as it was not what I had seen and brought, I'm sure the colour will grow on me. Performance seems good so far, response time rather quick. However I have not had a chance to use it much - time will tell.

If buying from comet pls. open the box before leaving the store as you may end up with another product as in my instance what they had on display and the way it was coded was incorrect!
Stupid question but this seems a great deal this is a bit colder than expected - anything wrong with it? (other than Comet...)

(other than Comet...)

Its an Acer. X) reliability.
