Oh and anyone voting cold could you please explain please

I find cold votes on here are thrown around without much thought these days

good deal i have an old acer travelmate which is around 4 years old but its still solid and working as new since i sorted it out recently.... but i got a dell 2 years ago and some letters from my keyboard have broken off and the dell is really poorly made from quite thin plastic and bendable metal compared to my old acer. Therefore i think acers r much more reliable and this deal is hot

Bought one of these for wife from CDiscount at same price around Xmas.
Good machine plays back blu ray on my tv via hdmi lovely.

No built in bluetooth and a pain to add internally, Cdiscount sent me a small external dongle which may be better.

I can recommend this machine. Lovely crisp display. Think it was cheaper at Cdiscount a few weeks ago. Take a look first.

Not ever listed on the Cdiscount site. Great deal if you got for cheaper though.

I remember these being listed on cdiscount.

There was another without the blu-ray drive as well which I got for £399 (£50 & £20 credit vouchers back on top of that). Now out of stock though and probably discontinued - cdiscount.co.uk/Com…tml

They are good but beware it is an Acer. ]I took the risk because it was such a good deal. My laptop has already been in for repairs though (the backlight went). Besides that its pretty good.

I thought Acer was one of the biggest companys for laptops these days? Not that im a expert. Every product made by someone is gonna have a few that are faulty. Unless there is a flood of people that this happens to I wont get too worried

Big company doesn't necessarily mean good. I thought the same too. Then when mine broke I read countless reviews and the majority are bad rather than good. Admittedly they were dating back from last year to a few more before that so yes things could have changed. But my laptop broke. It came back fixed but damaged - screw covers missing, small hairline crack from screw to hinge, the thing isn't clipped back together properly...... The exact same backlight problem was reported by another in the deal thread as well.

I guess I'm part of those unlucky few.... At least people know though, spending near on £500 you'd expect something to last....
