I bought this Comet/Laskys item ie #438189 last week for £449. It is apparently a Comet group specific variant of the 302G25Hn ie "LX.AN60x.160" and Lasksys (who were selling it at £449 last week, now Comet are and Laskys aren't) don't seem to know the detailed specification but based on first hand experience it seems to be half-way between the Acer website listing of the LX.AN40X.471 and LX.AN60X.041 ie does have the Intel 1GB Turbomemory but does NOT have the upgraded 8-cell battery (which is probably the best way around as can't retrofit Turbomemory but can retrofit a new battery when the first expires).

The 302G25Hn was on here 9 months ago (with a GT video system I think) as a 'hot deal' at £800 - I'm presuming the price reductions are due to HD-DVD and end of line for 5920G.

Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium
Intel® Core2 Duo T7300 ( 2GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 4 MB L2 Cache)
15.4" WXGA Acer CrystalBrite LCD TFT
2*1GB RAM
250GB 5400rpm 5400 Hard Disk Drive
1X HD DVD Drive [ie reads HD-DVDs etc & writes DVDs/CDs]
Mobile Intel® PM965 Express Chipset with NVIDIA® GeForce 8600M GS 256 MB VRAM
Intel® wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN (dual-band quad-mode 802.11a/b/g/Draft-N)
6 cell Li-ion Battery
5 in 1 card reader (SD), (MMC), (MS), (MS PRO), (XD)
0.3 MP Crystal Eye Webcam
Intel® 1GB Turbomemory®

Don't forget opportunity for Quidco cashback at Comet.
It also has a HDMI socket for output to a HDMI display, although personally I'm still having some issues sorting out the right Graphics/hardware driver settings to get it right/compatible with my big Sony TV.

Looks like a pretty reasonable spec for the money. Not exactly lightweight though at 3Kg - but I've seen worse!

Sort of yeah. The absolute truth is that Acer price reductions are simply because they flooded the channel with about £5m of kit during April and May and need to shift it pronto so they can start flooding it with Montevina (Centrino Gen5 )based kit

This is a cracking laptop. I paid £599.99 for this back in January, and it's a great performer.

Sounds good to me for the money for 450 , there is a killer deal for 500 amazon with better processor , 3gb RAM and better Gcard however not in stock at the moment , will take a look for 450 sounds good

Cheers Steve

This link works: … This link works: http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/425451/ACER-ASP%205920G.373This is also available from Amazon for the same price: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0010X54K2/ref=ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

Comet appear to have stopped stocking this line - 438189 .
Laskys have put the price back to £639.99 !!! £190 more than I paid (before Quidco)

Re "also available" - I don't believe so as it will be a slightly different model - as I mentioned in my original posting, I believe there have been 3 models described as "Aspire 5920G-302G25Hn" all 3 with the same core specification EXCEPT:
LX.AN60x.160 = this (Comet) Lasksys with 1GB Intel Turbo memory but NOT 8-cell
LX.AN40X.471 = with neither = probably the one at Amazon IF they really have any = 95-99% of the item but not 100%
LX.AN60X.041 = with both = real bargain if you can get that one!

So if/when tracking one down elsewhere worth trying to check the part #.
