This is a magnificent deal.

Very good price.

Even with the postage, that us still a very good price.

Good lump of laptop for the money. Anyone know of any £300 off vouchers?

I can't see a "buy" button?

Strange. It lists an 8-cell battery in the short description up the top, but lists a 6-cell in the full specifications tab down the bottom.

Thinking about it, I haven't heard of an 8 cell battery before. It's usually multiples of 3. Maybe they're just not as common.

Is it just me or is there no "buy" button?

Create an account and login maybe?

I tried that, bisoner, still no "buy" button.

No Buy Button here either, at least it is saving me a few hundred pounds.

I sent an email to the two different email addresses they give and both bounced back as undeliverable.

I hope they sort it out, it is a great deal!

Very good laptop

Beware! Real acer shop for UK is acerdirect.co.uk/

None of the laptops on this site allow you to buy... very suspect...

Admittedly I fell for it and registered... crapola.

If you want to add it to your basket click this link:

shopacer.co.uk/cod…041

I just followed the rule they use for adding the optional extras... The part after the "=" is the part number - you can find the part number on any product page.

Cool, thanks for the heads up.

its a very good deal but the site look dodgy to me. under the contact us section they mentioned the address as
Where we are:
Address:

Newsome

England

but if you look under contact us> directions , its showing the map of ireland. kind of confusing.8-)

Checked the shopacer domain with WHOIS and it is actually registered by acer, and has been for 10 years, with 7 years preregistration, so should be legit, I take it back. In fact, I've only gone and ordered one...

A minor point, but cheapest available postage was £9.95

I am tempted but I am not convinced by the website and the address given is just some random house looking on multimap. Interested to see what happens with those that have ordered.
Edit: Googling the name shopacer brings up forum posts showing they are genuine however lots of problems with their customer service.

sounds like a cracking deal, core 2 duo, 2 gigs and good graphics for under £350 is hot for me

graphics look great for a cheaper laptop

All reviews have 1.3MP webcam and 8600GT not GS for graphics. Are those typos?

A little searching and found this better speced on from Dixons Acer 7720g, I purchased this for £360 8 weeks ago using vouchers and is immaculate although it says refurbished it seems new to me so possibly a 14 day returned one. The origional post is expired as it gone up to £399 using vouchers may come down £20 to £380

So for aound £40 more you get

Blu-Ray player

No - even the top end 5920G (with Blu-Ray and 4GB of RAM) is worth less than £500

My son has this laptop and its fantastic. It has an 8 cell battery, the lesser acer models have 4 cell. It also has the quicker charger. He uses it for everything, but mainly playing games. The sound is the best ive heard on a laptop. He paid £499 at tesco a year ago.

Hope this helps

I somehow doubt it, I am on the same laptop right now (8600GT card btw) and it cost me not much more than that nearly 2 years ago.
The HDMI output is excellent, makes the laptop a nice compact media server.

Did anyone successfully go through with the order.. I am trying to reach their customer services since morning no response, and both their mail id's are bouncing.. is this a genuine site or some trap.. can anyone please let me know if I can get my money back if I complete the order and if something is wrong later...thanks

Did anybody manage to call them at the number listed on the site... i've been trying all morning... no luck...

This is the laptop ive got and im writing this message on, its a really good one, its got memory card slot for uploading photos really quickly, a web cam thats really clear and good, i would recommend it, i got it for free with a mobile deal, back in july. 100% would recommend

i've got this laptop... it has a 8600 GS graphics card, 0.3 MP camera, but its surprising crisp.... and a Windows Vista Base score (if anyone is interested) of 4.9.... which is fecking good for a laptop!!!!!!!!!

Be warned though, got it 1.5 years ago

Ironically i bought my Missus this laptop cheap using a Christmas bonus.... yes it may look better, but it doesn't actually perform anywhere near as good... Vista rating for this is 3.5... let down by the graphics card

lol - my flat mate just got ripped off then - he just parted with about €800 (in Spain) for this laptop - I thought he'd paid a bit too much!

This is the REAL price..they add VAT to the postage ...I had a VERY bad experience with Acer and would never make another purchase ..my laptop was returned to Acer for a DVD drive repair under warranty and was returned in an even worse state..yes the DVD drive had been replaced but in the process they had damaged the mobo...so it was returned to Acer ..on return I found that they had downgraded the CPU and the memory to that of a less expensive model...fortunately Comet agreed to refund me in full and informed that most of their problems with laptops were with Acer..so my advice is to stay well clear.

Very tempted; is this a good machine for gameing i.e. Football Manager?

it runs 2009 version without any issues at all.. even runs World In Conflict at a decent speed... Although Crysis is a little slow but runs (although the graphics card, in the bottom left of the machine, under the hand rest, gets blimin hot when running it)

Link didn't work, what is the Real price you're referring to?

I checked out at tthe OP's original quoted price + £9.95 P&P

I've got one of these bought July 08 for £550 (was cheapest price at the time). Excellent laptop after removing acer pre-installed bloatware and updating bios, drivers etc. Have been using it at least 12 hrs day since last July no problems given Vista is resource hungry. I'll probably install Windows 7 later in the year as its a much faster operating sytem.

football manager 2009 runs a treat on it. to be honest a lot of older, less graphically intensive games run pretty well. I'm just about to replace one of the 1gb sticks of ram with a 2gb one and thats easy enough to do if you need an extra gig or 2. At this price its well worth it, i paid a lot more than this a year and a half ago. Will say that acer customer service are pretty poor, tho touch wood i've not had to deal with them yet.

Can't find the BUY button??? scam?
