Yes i know it's 1366 x 768 but at least if it's rubbish & you don't like it you have a valid reason to return it for a refund.

mmm I want

Argos is the easiest place in the world to blag a refund ... Just collected Chromebook

if I wanted ato download films etc from ahem, certain not for profit sites would I be able to use this or would I need a laptop?

Collected mine yesterday and had a little go last night. Pretty good keyboard in my opinion, trackpad decent too. No pinch to zoom type shenanigans but ya can't have everything I guess!

When I checked battery life it said over 14 hours remaining, pretty crazy never seen batt life like that in a device!
Just need to install that app that let's you list on eBay now, what ever it's called..
The white casing may put some off but looks pretty cool IMO.

Not sure if screen is 'proper' HD or not but is good enough for me. Breaking Bad on Netflix looked fine anyway!

Trying paying for the items you download using sources that are compatible with your device and you won't have a problem.

Won't play .mkv files, but all others should be okay- have a quick google and you'll be able to find chrome apps to help you download

Can anyone comment on the battery life? it looks great, its the only thing that is swaying me to buy one. I have a laptop and a windows 8 tablet. The battery on both of them are quite poor but they do offer great performance. I would sacrifice performance over battery life. I am wondering too if the batteries in these degrades just as quick as they do in laptops.

This or the Lenova N20 touchsreen for the same price?

Nice deal OP.

It's no Commodore 64 though is it ?

ARM processor, another useless chromebook, avoid at all costs.

Just read some reviews and a video... Looks good battery may be more like 8-9 hours but thats still pretty good. Graphics and performance pretty good. Can have several things running on it at once. Think performance is pretty good for the money

I bet you've got some processors tucked away in that massive head of yours eh gervinho ?

Gervinho! Trolling! A useless chromebook? 8-9 hours 1080p viewing on a 13inch screen?!? Useless for watching hd films?!? Hahaha you fool

I understand the ARM processor may not be compatible with all Chrome apps but this is improving all the time.

What else would having this processor over the Intel limit then?

The quality is very poor, low pixel density, poor colour saturation, rubbish viewing angles. You won't enjoy watching films with **** low quality speakers either!

Some versions and descriptions state 1080p but I take your point! If its good quality hd I guess that's what matters

Tbh fair there are a few reviews out there that state performance isn't great. Shame cos its looks pretty good on paper. I'd need to try one out

could some kind person who has one or new(ish) chromebook try one of these office products and let me know how they run, after something that will last few years for kids with homework and this looks like half the price of decent low end laptop.

thanks op

I want something to use to take photos off my phone/ camera and Save onto a hard drive, and do light editing. Would this be any good for that? My 9 year old Dell took 3 hours just to load up the contents of my 16gb SD card today!
Thanks in advance

16gb hard drive!!! my phone has more memory lol !!!!

It has the long battery life because you'll be spending all the time moving stuff to an external hard drive!

Yeah, cos constantly moving stuff to an external hard drive is a well known time-honoured technique for improving battery life. (_;)

Looks good, ordered for collection tomorrow. thanks OP.
This will be our 3rd Chromebook in the family. love em.

I picked up one of the Lenovo N20, but this was on my list. I'm still wondering about the Acer because the reviews online are so mixed. The N20p is built well, not particularly stylish, but with a fair heft for its size. The keyboard is by no means a Lenovo standard keyboard, but it is far from how bad the reviews make it sound. The trackpad is fairly poor. The touchscreen does the job, but I don't really have occasion to use it much. The performance is good, but has been a big let down from what I expected. At 4GB RAM and an Intel processor (Bay trail, I know), I thought this thing would fly, and it simply does not. Key strokes are often delayed; keeping a youtube page or music streaming page open while browsing often causes pauses in the streaming when new tabs are opened or surfing about. The battery life hits probably just shy of 8hours. The screen is tiny at 11.6 inches, and my eyesight is fairly good, but I had to upscale the text to not strain my eyes too much when reading. The viewing angles are c*ap and that really doesn't make sense with the yoga like feature this has, which I haven't used all that much.

Anyone who has the Acer and has used the device in similar situations as me: multiple tabs, with youtube or music streaming, what have you found? Does it hold up well? Stutters, glitches, keystroke registration delays on screen?

Can you easily plug a usb 3 1tb hard drive into your phone though ? .... Thought not .....

Be aware Chromebooks do not have a hard drives! Everything is stored on a Cloud. Cold for me.

Not everything, but certainly most things unless you tweet it.
Chromebooks aren't for everyone. As long as you know what it can and can't do, and your happy with the change from your current life in Windows or Mac world's, they will be fine

This is my first weekend with one of these, batt life is very impressive thus far for those asking. Charged it Friday, have been spotifying, youtubing and ebaying/general surfing on and off all weekend and it's still more that half full.

Chromebook aren't for everyone indeed. Perfect for what I want though.
I think of it as a slightly more capable tablet (but with poorer screen than most tablets!)

Still going on that initial charge after streaming and surfin on and off all weekend...

Not a scientific answer I know but hope it helps !

Just to add my two penneth worth to this thread, i picked the Acer up the weekend for the other half for a christmas present & decided to set it up so i can just get drunk on Christmas day & not have to mess about with computers. I have a HP 14 Chromebook with the Intel Haswell processer as opposed to this with a Tegra Arm processer.

First off,i think it looks better than the HP & it weighs considerably less than the HP 14. Also i think the screen looks a little bit shaper too. My biggest concern was that that the Acer might be noticeably slower than my HP & going by some of the reviews & the slating Arm processers seem to get in these threads i was a bit worried about buying the Acer & maybe it is just a touch slower but tbh i could barely notice the difference, on start up from cold i can't see any difference & browsing with multiple pages open it's barely noticeable, Youtube ect seems fine.

So all in all very happy with the Acer, it looks great imo
& if the battery life is as good as it says it is i'am more than happy with it. I think it's a decent enough little Chromebook for little money & anyone who is thinking of buying it or has bought one will be more than happy with it.
