Are VAT and customs duty pre-paid with Amazon.com imports?

I posted as “delivered” yes it’s all included. Go to checkout you will see all VAT and import included in the £582 price

Without tax and duty it would be a cool 480 odd

You are better off getting the Asus Rog GL553VD for a few quid more, which has a newer graphics card if you're after gaming.

What’s the spec and price?

edit: the one at Currys for £699 with gtx 1050? £120 quid more last gen processor and “4.5 hrs battery” vs “15 hrs battery”

I didn’t advertise this as a gaming laptop, it’s an all rounder

I was talking about balance, processor speed and efficiently plus storage speed plus video editing and light gaming. I can’t deny that’s a better gaming machine for the price but other than that...

i might be wrong but you may get charged a non sterling transaction fee from your bank or credit card provider.

You can use amazon conversion, and pay in sterlings

I understand what you mean. This is today's price cut for the laptop I was talking about.

if it only had a bigger battery, I would get it in an instant, but from what I've heard, even with light use (no gaming) it lasts only 2 hours. That's bad

I like it all except TN Screen. Would never buy another laptop with TN screen after experiencing IPS
Edit: Having owned a few laptops it’s the third thing I check after processor and storage, even before graphics

BTW this laptop is IPS

Have you used Intels new 8 series? I haven’t but heard they are very frugal. Beside only going on specs from manufacturer “Up to 15-hours Battery Life”

I have one from work, on max brightness, wifi on, won't last over 7hours..
I've tried on 50% brightness, no wifi, playing movie on silent and max i could get was 10hrs...

it's still very good result, but nowhere near 15hrs mark...

Are you sure it was 8th gen cpu?

Yes, i've been using it for the last 6days...

This isn't a gaming spec laptop, the GPU is entry level >

It will play games, just at 720P with lower details for many games.

I don't know, maybe if you have the screen on 20-30% of brightness, wifi & bluetooth off, typing in word... who knows

If I wanted a pure gaming laptop I would go PC Specialist and get this, drop out the HDD and Windows options and kicking it up to 1050ti for £648
edit:(and put in an SSD and clean windows when it arrives of course!)

pcspecialist.co.uk/not…15/

but it for balance as a do it all laptop I don’t think there’s a better machine available in the UK right now for the price on this deal

My Medion 17 incher with GTX 1060 can put up about 1 hour 45 on battery so anything over 8 hours is mythical for me

But mine cost half yours who says price doesn’t mean quality! Medion...jeez
edit that’s a serious comment, tried an MSI and it was night and day. Ok my Medion still working but it’s like eating Tesco’s value beans next to Heinz

If for half of the price the only negative is weak battery then it's a great deal

I still have this Acer in my Amazon.com basket though. Just for a pure workhorse it looks brilliant, if I can cope with the “ and @ switcheroo. Yanks have to do everything different

How do you find the screen and the build quality of this laptop? I want to have a decent laptop but I’m not prepared to drop 1k+ on one.

The screen is decent, viewing angles so so, overall build quality good to very good. It's pretty fast laptop in non gaming tasks, close to my personal Asus Strix 1060 7th gen processor. I think for the price it's petty good machine. Hope it helps...

Thanks, decided against buying it, would have gone for it if it was lighter. Seems like the best all round laptop so far though.

Not the lightest, i agree, but for the price with ssd & MX150 it's a good deal
