This was £129 around Christmas time, and went up to £159, which is the price I purchased it at. It also comes with 100GB One Drive cloud storage for 2 years.

If you're a new customer (or create a new account), you can also save an extra £10, making the price £119! Code: TDX-YGPK

I have it, and it suits my simple needs. I'd recommend it, especially for this price. I called Tesco and have been refunded the difference

thank you!

Are these nippy (esp. to start up) - I'd grab it like a shot if it was a chromebook but ironically they are more expensive!

Hey budd.. Do u know the code pls..

10% - TDX-KGRX

as in OP

I get 7-8 hours battery life out of mine and it is super light. For a portable computer it really is a fantastic machine.

Win 8.1?
I thought it would be Chrome at that price.

Not sure how long a 32GB SSD will last though when Windows starts updating itself.

That's a nice little laptop, heat added!

I'd go for this if I didn't already have the Dell 3531 (posted here a million times!)

cold, can get a macbook for an extra £800

That code doesn't work as it's for furniture apparently.

TDX-YGPK will work and gives £10 off for "new" customers.

This has the same screen as an 11 inch Macbook air!... which is £750.

Is there really a better laptop for this price? I'm going travelling at the end of May and want a laptop to take that I can do simple photo editing, blogging and it has a decent battery life. Is this going to fit the bill?

I'm unsure whether I should get this or a C720
Edited by: "Savedotmoney" 13th Jan 2015

this was actually 189 then 129 on the black friday deals then once back in stock 159 now back at 129 so buy it bargain

Could this handle hd streaming?

I bought 2 of these laptops and upgrade the ram to 4gb each ,and i know nothing about computers ,Thats how easy it is .They are not lightning fast but ample for simple tasks .

that's exactly why I've bought it, I'm going traveling next month. This laptop is light and is really quick to start up. The memory is an issue, but I've bought a 64gb cruzer fit (I think that's the name) USB, that I'll leave in.

Plus at this price, it wont be the end of the world if it gets damaged or (heavens forbid) stolen.

Grab a 32 - 64 GB SD for under £20 that will help with storage worries

i have had mine since the black Friday deals and is great for surfing the net, light weight and ultra quiet, i have just bought another 2 for my business - the VAT they are even cheaper

How easy is it to upgrade the hard drive?

How will these handle office? I'm thinking of getting a couple for work

Nice spec heat added!

I think this netbook doesn't have a SATA port so no SSD upgrades possible. Is that right?

Any opinions on the sound quality from this? and other battery life opinions?

Thanks guys ... close to buying

You're Hot Deals UK famous!!! Haha

I personally don't think the sound quality is that great. It's rather quiet compared to other laptops, and the speakers are located on the bottom lip of the laptop...which I think is silly.

I haven't really tested the battery life, but I think its supposed to be 8hours.

good price. just a shame about not being able to swap out the hard drive.

Cheers Fumika

I got my dad a Asus Chromebook C200 for £149 from amazon over xmas.... great 10 hour battery but sound is a bit odd... bassy but muffled..... i guess will be with small laptops notebooks

SSD, but only 32GB

How much is left after installing Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Thanks to "pillow" member from the Black Friday post :
"For anyone planning on buying this laptop, you cannot install an SSD or standard hard drive. There is a space in the case but the motherboard has had the connector removed (whether you can buy a SATA header and solder it on is anyone's guess). The storage is not an SSD, it's eMMC. It is slower than an SSD but I think it is slightly faster than most laptop mechanical drives.

The laptop is fast and nippy enough for browsing and office based work. I happily have Spotify playing in the background whilst working on documents and it doesn't slow down. For gaming there are lots of videos on youtube but it handles Counterstrike Source on high settings and Prison Architect smoothly so that's enough for me. I have about 8GB of free space after Office, Spotify, Steam and Avast installed , as well as all the windows updates. There is quite a lot of crap pre-installed and I have uninstalled all of the acer stuff except the recovery management software and the "quick access" software which provides the OSD for caps lock etc.

Bare in mind normal sized SD cards will stick out about 1cm. I am looking into buying a transcend low profile sd card which is correctly sized for a 15" MacBook Pro Retina laptop. I think that this card will sit flush. Otherwise it is a really surprisingly nippy laptop. I did have an Asus X205TA with the quadcore baytrail tablet chip and I actually think it is slower than this dual core Celeron chip (also the graphics on this chip is clocked about 100MHz faster).

Battery life is around 8-10 hours of light use (web browsing mainly) (I think Acer severely underestimate their 5 hour claim for some bizarre reason)

Ram can be upgraded but you need to be happy enough to unscrew and unplug cables off the mainboard because you can't access the slot otherwise. And as mentioned you cannot install a 2.5" drive at all."

Looks good - but it is heavier than my 7 year old Toshiba R500, which even has a DVD drive.

Plus you can't expect too much for the price. You could always buy one of those small speaker pods that are meant to be pretty good and cheap!

Cheers guys - Thanks Mikefrom82 - Your battery life info convinced me to hit pay! .... £119 with code to pick up in store on Thursday!

Can you pit Classic Shell on this to negate W8?
