Looks like a pretty good deal to me. Fairly basic, so will only play simple games on low settings, but a decent little machine for the casual user. It does have a dvd drive/burner which may be useful for some.

Had this this 3 weeks now as 2 of my laptops need to be repaired & this works well for me & does not constantly keep updating windows 8 which takes forever. A good price.

I need a laptop for some travelling I'm doing later in the year and was debating between getting a cheapy now that I will ditch next year, or splashing out and just getting a good one just now that I will stick with. This might be the cheapy I was looking for

Unfortunately, not. Plenty of the Acer when I looked a couple of minutes ago though.

Not necessarily. If you stick to the things it's meant to be used for, ie browsing, watching movies, listening to music and word processing, it'll be fine. Avoiding resource hogging virus software like McAfee, regularly defragging the hard drive (although I think Windows 8x automatically defrags anyway) and running cc cleaner will also help. If it starts slowing down then the Ram can be upgraded to 8gb and/or an SSD can be installed. If someone wants to do more with it than that then they're looking at the wrong machine and should be spending a fair bit more.

agree, get rid of win8 and install something you more happy with and its great. I went for 'as new' option for slightly more but well worth it. apart from very crappy webcam, it has very decent speakers, amazing battery life, good built quality, quite light and slim.
