Was laptop shopping with my younger bro when i found this, while a bit odd with the lower end CPU, it should be a pretty fast machine, also features a CD/DVD drive which seems to be becoming rarer on more powerful machines :O (one of his requirements) There are comparable laptops from other brands slightly cheaper, but we avoid HP and Dell due to past bad experiences.

  • Intel Core i3-6100U Dual Core Processor
  • 15.6" Full HD Screen
  • Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64-bit
  • 8GB DDR4 RAM
  • 128GB SSD + 1000GB HDD
  • DVD Rewriter
  • Dedicated GeForce GTX 950M 4GB Graphics
  • USB3 | HDMI | Bluetooth
  • F5-573G-334G NX.GDAEK.003 (Model Number)

From reviews of similar models (different processor etc), It turns out the m.2 ssd is user accessible and therefore upgrade-able which is handy if you want to extend the lifespan of your laptop.

Battery life is rated at 12 hours but this depends obviously on what you are doing, still better than my bro's 10 minutes he gets on his refurbished Packard bell.

While described as a "Gaming laptop", it would really only be capable of playing last generation titles with any meaningful quality, for simpler titles like League of Legends or the good old Isometric Dnd Games it's not bad.

Its okay but dual core + ddr3l makes me hesitant.
oh and the reason I didn't put the original price was X on the top is because that really doesn't mean anything I would never have recommended it to my brother at the original price.
You can find much better laptops than this..
I'm on the hunt for a decent laptop max budget is about 600.

Must be light, sleek and modern.

I'm only going to use it for uni work, general browsing, YouTube videos, downloading music to store on my USB/iPod that's it really.

is this good for the price? Wondering if it will get any cheaper come Boxing Day.. hmmm

If you have time then wait for the next round of big sales (boxing day & Jan) and set up a keyword alert for 'laptop' and watch the deals come rolling in
Msi PL62 7RC is £599 at ebuyer.com which imho is the much better buy here, it doesn't come with an SSD but it does have an empty M2 socket.

Has a much better CPU and slightly better graphics too.

the reason it wouldn't have fit my brother's requirements is no disc drive, I know you can buy external ones, but he preferred an all in one solution, other than that, yeah it's a good deal
