Is this a good deal? I have seen average reviews of the same model with a more basic spec but this one has the i5 processor with 8gb of ram so sounds good - I think?

Windows 10 (pre-installed)
Intel® Core™ i5-5200U Processor
Memory: 8 GB
Storage: 1 TB
Up to 5 hours battery life

Or should I look for something better at that price?

Resolution 1366 x 768

Hello! Depends what you want, that I5 is not hugely powerful if that is important to you.

Its for my daughter and she will want to run some music software on it, like sibelius, just at a hobby level not professional. As well as the usual teenage type stuff of email, browsing, movies. Not much gaming. I don't want to spend more than about £400 really.

Similar price and an AMD apu amazon.co.uk/Tos…MHM should be a true quad core also.

Hi, I had my eye on this one:
tesco.com/dir…991
It's £339. If thats any help and you can double up your club card vouchers.
Have to admit, it doesn't sound as good as the toshiba one above, but it is cheaper.

i5 U series are great if you need portability as it's underpowered CPU to make it more energy efficient.

AMD A10 would be better as it is more powerful and has much better gpu unit for gaming, but it wont last long without AC adapter and may heat significantly more

Similar price? Showing as nearly £40 dearer. Not my idea of similar but maybe I'm reading it wrong?

It is the normal price for a i5 U version budget laptop. It is not a good deal.

If you are on tight budget and do not mind refurbished.go for this one.

Some people dislike Zenbook Intel Core M CPU, its power is as an i3, CPU mark 2917. It consume less power, generate less heat. So no fan, less noise, longer battery life per charge.

It will suit you if you do not use it for intensive tasks, video editing and computer games.
