Thanks, just ordered.

I have a Windows 7 license/CD that has been sitting around since W7 came out so this will be perfect for it.

Seems it only has a 250 watt power supply which may be a problem if adding a graphics card.

Note that have the same box with 6Gb of memory and a 1Tb hard drive for £299 on the same web site.

If you don't mind building, you can get the same machine with a 450w PSU for a Fiver less.

If all you want is a basic machine, it's not a bad deal.
Very good family PC and able to run plenty of programs and multitask without an issue. Perfect for upcoming students too.
1.5% cashback from quidco..

The Intel Core i3 2100 3.1GHz is a dual core so for this price this has to be HOT! In fact, this is great value for money..
This tracks as £2.89 cashback with TCB (i.e. 1.5% of the ex-VAT price) however they'll match against the better 2% rate from imutual or fatcheese.
This has to be better than the £199 Zoostorm due to the i3, so well worth the extra £30 I think.

Hot.
Seems like a good spec to me. Anyone know where the cheapest place to get Windows 7 would be?

This one also seems to be a decent price with windows 7 installed?

This is just an upgrade for if you already have an operating system, which you obviously do. This is 64 bit version.

Cool, thanks. Think I'll bag one of these then.
Ordered and get mine tomorrow

I'll post back once I have have it up.
Would this be any good for video editing on Cyberlink Powerdirector, Pinnacle and photoediting on Photoshop ?

I have a Q6600 quadcore with 4gb RAM but finding everything a little on the slow side.

Wondering if an i3 is not that much of a step up from what I have now

I3 isnt a quad core (only 2) so not sure it is the best upgrade for photo / video editing - i have a quad core 6600 and looking at upgrades myself.

or have i got this wrong anyone ?

Not an upgrade for those tasks, the more cores the better.

Overclock you're Q6600, they're one of the easiest and best chips to do this, they'll happily run 3.2Ghz on the stock cooler.

Easier said than done mate. It's a Dell XPS...not overclockable using bios

Any ideas for OC-ing this mobo?

There is probably some software that will let you do it? I don't know for sure.

The best upgrade for sluggish PC's is an SSD. It won't speed up your video/photo editing but it will give everything a much snappier feel - opening browsers and programs instantly.

I have a Dell XPS and looked into overclocking but didn't get very far. It just seems that Dell do not allow any overclocking of their systems at all.

I guess if the Q6600 is better for me than picking up an i3, then i might as well by a new motherboard to allow me to overclock.

Eitherway I think the price for this i3 is pretty good...so voted hot
The M1930 has been this price for a while, not bad at all.

Steve
shame its not the older i3's and id buy

why is that then?
could overclock it
If anyone is interested in overclocking, you can put a core i3 550 3.2ghz 1156 system together for this price. Potentially get up to 4.2ghz+ with an aftermarket cooler. Voted hot.

Photoshop CS5 and the latest Powerdirector 9 make excellent use of Cuda enabled Nvidia graphics cards, the more cores the better though..
Is the specification listing X4500 onboard graphics correct? As I thought the new Core i3 processors all had built in graphics.

Apparently - "Graphics are on cpu GT2000"
This has Hyper-Threading so it'll act like a fourth core, speed is insane though and will easily run Photoshop etc; Photoshop isn't as power hungry as people make it out to be, I have no trouble running Sony Vegas Pro on my secondary AMD II x620 at 2.6 quadcore which is outdated by 2-3 years but works fine.
Got mine setup with SSD and windows 7 pro 64bit

Runs fast and very, very quiet.

Windows experience 5.2

Hi all
I really want to buy this but on the Ebuyer website it does not mention having a HDMI port so i gave them a call and they said they dont think so as it is not mentioned on the specs however many people on the reviews say it does.
Can anyone confirm this please

You can see just below the DVI, there is a HDMI slot with HDMI written next to it.

Got this a few days back after finding it recommended on here and the good reviews on ebuyer clinched it. Using it in a small business after current desktop started slowing and I had increasing need to run multiple programs at once.

Firstly to the poster asking about HDMI, yes it has HDMI and VGA out.

I installed Windows 7 Ultimate and the driver disc supplied by Acer had all the necessary drivers for Windows 7. The case isnt great. Doesnt look particularly attractive (but mine is hidden under a desk) and the drive button is a little tacky. However, its super fast and very quiet and I couldn't find anything else around with this spec for the price. Its great to install your own OS to avoid the bloated stuff loaded on by PC manufacturers.
Any problems with the switches for the DVD ? Mine seems very stiff and unresponsive :' (

Bit of a numpty here but how easy is it to put a copy of XP on this PC? Does it need any special prep?

Not at all easy, I'd say!

Windows XP SP3 installer crashed every time for me (BSOD) so had to go with Windows 7 instead!
You would probably need to slipstream the drivers for the sata hard drive onto a disc for XP or make sure the sata channel is set to legacy (compatible with IDE)

they have pushed up the price and put a diff quickfind code.
same pc but extra 2gb and extra 500gb, but not worth the 50
I bought this machine its ok for the money , only one drawback' the start button is situated
on the top of the machine'. I keep catching it (caused a few Problems' ) that all i can find
any more faults

tommo'
Seriously, dont buy it, i have one, it cant even run skype and a game
Not even a city builder!
Holy ****!
Its the worst computer i have ever seen
