are these batteries any good or are they cheap chinese stuff?

Banned

this will be a fake.

Dealextreme don't deal in genuine items.

EVEN THEIR R4 Cards for the DS are fake!!!!!!!! That's how fraudulent these guys are. Avoid like the plague.

This hardware will cause more damage to your laptop than an official GENUINE Samsung.

It's companies like dealextreme that deal with cheap crap that lets the official retailers sell at really high prices because they offer original equipment. Don't support fakes

I got a cheapo battery from eBay, unofficial brand. for around £50 months ago.

Gives me a good 7 hours battery life.

I'd buy this if I needed another,

It is in no way a "fake" any more than Tesco's tomato sauce is "fake" Heinz. They quite clearly state that it is a compatible, not an OEM item.

brilliant price for this, i wish a battery for my sony was this cheap!

Absolutely nothing wrong with dealextreme gear.Fitting a genuine samsung in your acer will definatley damage your machine though.Ignore irksome planks like good deals 9 who spout directly from their le,derrier.

While i've never had a problem with DX, I wouldn't buy this. SuperETrader sell one for £51 delivered that is covered by 12 months UK warranty AND has hardware damage cover too.
For an extra £13, that peace of mind is worth the price.

Cheers

Needed one of these for a Long flight next month. So at this price a steal. Will see how long it lasts on a 13 hour flight!

Heat and Rep added.

.... Would you be hit by the import tax fingy?

i have bought many times from dealxtreme, a pleasure to deal with.

sure there stuff is cheap but to me its been chearful, and promptly delivered.

if you want quality stuff, you can pay over the odds to acer or buy it from dealextreme, just dont be foolish enough to think this will be the same as the offical acer gear.

btw i have bought a R4DS card from deal extreme, works a dream, and no probs whatsoever

These people are a good UK source. I've ordered a few sim free mobiles before from them in the past with no issues. I'm sure there are at least a few other users of SuperEtrader on here

Acer want £75 for a 6 cell battery. That is frankly laughable, and they don't even sell a 9 cell one.
So you can't blame people for going for a cheaper option. But there is cheap, then there is c*h*e*a*p.

That has to be the most bizarre logic I have ever read!!

By all means buy cheap Chinese crap if you want to - it won't last as long as a genuine manufacturer item; bit these low priced batteries only keep the pressure up on the original equipment manufacturers to keep the genuine item cost as low as they can.

talking absolute rubbish!!!!!!! .. For starters there is no longer Real R4s in the market since they stopped manufacturing these well over 12 months ago.. Deal Extreme are one of the more reliable drop shippers out there... of course they'll deal with junk and have tonnes of cheap imitation stuff but that's china for you...

I'll wait to see what people say about it, if it's as good as I hope, I'll definately get one!

this will be more than likely fake, from my experience with fake batteries theyre often worse than the originals

I bought one off ebay last week, came from hong kong, batteryresource88 was the seller I think, battery is brilliant 7 hours 40 minutes....................£39 delivered so far so good, theres a very good and long post on batteries on the aspireone forum

don't understand the talk of fakes, did you fake talkers buy acer memory or did you consider buying crucial memory for it?

Er, what part of the title suggests it's passing itself off as official? It says: "UM0874 7200mAh Replacement Lithium Battery Pack for Acer Aspire one A110/A150."

Which is more than likely what it is.

Would people prefer their Chinese imports to not even mention which items they are compatible with? lol. Hot from me!

Well I bought my 9-cell for the MSI Wind from China on fleabay. £38 delivered in under a week.. Fit and finish are as good as OEM. Capacity meets specification and expectations. I have several contacts who have done the same and are equally pleased. I have bought phone and camcorder batteries from China in the past and have never had a problem.

DX certainly do sell plenty of junk, but they are an excellent source for bargains.

Hot from me, just a shame it's black!

How can it be a "fake" battery, it says it's a battery and that's what it is, nothing fake about it, unless it's made out of playdoh maybe!

Deal if they actually work!

You are only partially correct, whilst the R4 team have stopped producing R4s there are still stocks of real R4s out there.

What makes DealExtreme dishonest in their practices are the fact they never state if a product is counterfeit.

Leetmot sell both the original R4 as well as the cloned RD SDHC version but actually STATE its not produced by the R4 team (and they are an official R4 dealer. Want proof?

Clone R4 ]http//ww…5d1

Whilst I have no problem with Dealextreme selling third party products such as this 9 cell battery, I do feel that they have dishonest practices in a lot of the goods they sell and reported poor customer service.

Would you go to your dodgy local market to buy copyright theft clothing such as Calvin klein fake underwear, fake Adidas tops etc etc...because basically a LOT of products that Dealextreme sell are copyright theft.

I started a thread on Dealextreme and their illegal practices selling counterfeit memory cards, Microsoft Hard Disks for the 360 etc etc. The fact that HUKD supports this by allowing posts of such nature is disgraceful.

It's not like R4 was a registered trademark or a reputable company in the first place. How are they selling counterfeit memory cards? Are they not the brands they claim to be?

As for the MS HDDs, the only one I can find is this one.

dealextreme.com/det…388 "120GB Hard Disk Drive Module for Microsoft Xbox 360"

It is quite clear to me from the way this is displayed and advertised that it is not an official HDD and I do not consider this misleading.

Anyway we should take each deal on it's merit and I do not think that Deal Extreme have in anyway implied this is an official Acer battery.

it doesn't claim a brand name but it does claim a capacity - that specification can be fake.
there have been batteries on dx before containing nails and steel plates to give the appearance of a larger capacity item and also some rechargables had no recharge in them just a small standard battery.
until verified you should always be careful about dx products.

r4 however did have a reputation and the lies lead to incompatability issues as well as well just plain lying and ignorance.

memory cards: i have a 1gb jap kingston from there and it is slower than any that i have seen - perhaps i got a duff one but maybe they are fake - there are alot of posts on that product page about it.
think some of the pro duos also had sony on them which was photoshopped out of photos.

thing about the 'acer' battery is we do not know its actual merit so cant judge on that basis.

That was my first thought when I saw the post about fake batteries; not that they are not originals but that the stated capacity is fudged to the max. Case in point, the so-called 5200mAh non-OEM batteries for the MSI Wind. Ebay is full of them. Turns out that they have a capacity of 4400mAh despite the labelling, but they still sell for a premium. Plenty of tales of woe about these on the various Wind forums.

Ebay is one thing, but DX tends to be better about handling complaints. I doubt that these batteries have faked capacities, but I would wait a little and let others be the guinea pigs, also to see if they get hassle from customs.

Could not agree more. I'm sick of people taking the whole "It's OEM" defence as well. ALL flashcards from TTDS anyway, DESPITE them swearing that they are genuine, are all cheap, shoddily made fakes.

It was the issue some time back with cyclods cards. I had bought one a few months previous for £30, which was excellent. Best flashcard I've ever owned. Then dealextreme put a shipment up on the site, for about £12 a pop. Tons of people asked about this on the team cyclops forum, and it was soon quite swiftly removed from dealextreme, and all orders were cancelled, money wasn't refunded etc.

While it's excellent to get so many things so cheap, and posted free of charge (hell, large sized ps2 memory cards etc, wouldn't buy them anywhere else, and I know I'm being a hypocrite) fact is, the only HOT thing about the item is its legality on most occasions.

I'm all for banning dealextreme outright on the front page. Its not difficult to load up their page and see all the new arrivals once a week. It's not UK based. It's generally something illegal thats posted, and although it doesn't bother me, and I will freely admit to pirating a few things I wouldn't normally pay for, the fact of the matter is this.

Many that view this site just don't know how to detect something dodgy about a deal such as this. It's a battery. This could be stuck into a wee boy or girls netbook, and dear god, nobody is going to turn round and say "hate to say I told you so" to a child who has been horribly maimed by overheated acid.

While a fake memory stick or whatever just might be broken, its the stuff on this site that has no regard for safety that I really don't want your average person to be exposed to.

Hope a few of you see this.

The fake R4s are not built as reliably as the original ones, and have flawed voltage designs which have been known to blow the internal fuse of the DS Lite. Just because a product is designed to play homebrew/roms doesn't mean that it should be cloned by another manufacturer, regardless of its purpose the clone has reliability issues the same as most "knock off" products.

As for the memory cards, yes such is the same with a lot of HK, JP and CH sellers on Ebay, they are not genuine Sandisk, Sony MS Duo etc cards

Hmmm...yes they have changed it from the original description to state it was not an original Microsoft HD, however that makes it counterfeit, as the formatting of the hard disk also requires custom firmware, the binary file of which is copyrighted by Microsoft. As I have already stated in my thread about DealExtreme, along with links and unsatisfied customers.

I have already said I take this deal on merit if you read my post, however that doesn't take away the poor customer service that DealExtreme offer OR the fact they dishonestly have and still do trade fake and copyright theft items and as such I personally feel along with others that DealExtreme as a company doesn't have a right of place on here, end of story.

Thank you, I am glad to see someone else with sense

It has a CE mark on it - and it looks like it's intended to be the European safety marking rather than the 'China Export' marking of nearly identical design. (how crazy is that! the entire fkin country is dodgy if you ask me; having a 'of Chinese manufacture' mark fraudulently imitating a european safety marking!!)

Anyhow, if it is a genuine CE safety marking, it should be accompanied by a copy of the declaration of conformity. So when/if it does leak battery acid all over your children, atleast you'll have a legal recourse!

I must say, this deal is very tempting =/

As for DealExtreme being generally dodgy; I can't agree - I got the touch screen for my AA1 from DX and it came well packaged (important for something so fragile), contained all the components, and works flawlessly. Plus it was £15 cheaper than the closest competitor.

I bought the 7800 from superetrader... works great, about 12 hours it gave me on normal use.

gone for this

£38 is a bargin, for jorneys etc.

now just need a slim external dvd enclosure

I bought an "R4" from deal extreme for I think it was $10 for my girlfriend's little brother and it works flawlessly, back them the exchange rate was 2:1 so it cost £5 which was a bargain. I also bought a sandisk micro SD card to go in it which I had no problems with.

If they ARE selling fake memory brands I would be inclined to agree with you that should severely hurt their reputation.

As for the hard drive being counterfeit because of the firmware. I would say that only arguably applies if they include all that original Xbox emulation data on the drive. Also I received my hard drive from MS on that £20 for Xbox live + hard drive deal. I did not receive or agree to any EULA so I don't see how they can argue the software on the hard drive is licenced. DX are not selling the data on the drive they are selling the drive.

Does that make it right ? The binary file utilised for formatting the drive is copyright of Microsoft and Microsoft have not licensed third party manufacturers of their Hard Disk (hence why the binary file is illegally distributed amongst torrent sites should you wish to undertake a hard disk upgrade yourself) , There has been fake Nintendo Wii controllers on DealExtreme as well as fake memory cards. Just because its fake doesn't mean it won't work, means it hurts the manufacturer, will not be warranteed and it will be cheaper built and more prone to errors (especially with fake Sony MS PRO Duo) hence false economy and your data won't be reliably stored.
