apart from the big Windows 7 stick this is the one you will received with the V-type stand / VESA mount (100x100mm / 75x75mm) + wired keyboard and mouse, Optical S/PDIF next to memory card slot (wont find this on the r3600 single core version)

If you are interested in install Windows onto this, you will have to download the Windows BIOS and flash it
download here:
-global-download.acer.com/GDF…ire R3610&OS=722&LC=en&BC=Acer&SC=EMEA_27"]global-download.acer.com/GDF…ire R3610&OS=722&LC=en&BC=Acer&SC=EMEA_27

**as people here confirmed, no need to do the bios flash for Windows installs**

this machine only runs at about 27 watts, also if you have an external eSATA drive, you could plug it in and it will recognise it as an onboard drive.

for people who are thinking of buying this and a 2gb ram (which cost about £35) to upgrade to 4gb.
note, this comes with 2 x 1gb so you will end up with 3gb unless u buy 2 x 2gb which will cost you £70, then you are probably better off buying the £271.58 version at ebuyer (inc 4gb ram, 500gb hdd, Windows 7, Wireless keyboard/mouse other specs same as this deal)

Just cancelled my last order with them. They claim a three day delivery time to Aberdeen because it's so far away and blame the delivery company for classing it as 'rural'. Fair enough, but they then take two days to get the item 'ready for despatch'

if anyone is wondering what is the difference between the r3600 and r3610.

the r3600 has a Atom N230 Single core, 1gb of ram, 160gb hard disk, and no optical S/PDIF.
the r3610 has a Atom N330 dual core, 2gb of ram, 250gb hard disk and has Optical S/PDIF.

this is a comparason between the £130 r3600 and £190 r3610 from ebuyer.

I donno but when ebuyer do actually take the 5-7 working day delivery time they always post the day before the last day bit stupid cause they always use the same next working day delivery.

£199.99 is still a good price for this machine.

For some reason I really want one, but I've got no idea what it is!

It looks pretty cool though

if your monitor or tv has 100x100mm or 75x75mm VESA mount you can mout it to the back, it comes with a bracket which you screw on the monitor or tv then you can clip the revo in. alternatively you can use the V-type stand which is supplied.

http://www.preisjaeger.at/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/acer-aspire-revo-r3610-2.png

for the people who need wireless N you can always pickup a mini pci-e 802.11n card and replace the existing one

http://computershopper.com/var/ezwebin_site/storage/images/media/images/acer-aspire-revo-inside/463419-1-eng-US/acer-aspire-revo-inside_maxwidth.jpg

to open the Revo locate the screw under a little black void warrently stick on the bottom of the machine (in the indent on the right of this photo) unscrew it and then start unclipping the side (back side of power button) to access the internal parts

I believe it is to smooth the workload in the warehouse. Next day items have to be picked & packed immediately, with the 5 day option they can be done when there it is less busy. Some on the 5 day shipping do get sent early, it's just pot luck.

yep I know :-D I do occasionally get next day delivery from their free delivery option so I'm not complaining. but sometimes you donno whether to take the gamble or pay the extra

about the same as a laptop

Would this be good for a torrenting rig.

On 24/7 uploading and downloading or would anyone like to recommend something else for this?

I'm on one right now and while I haven't torrented 24/7 I have left it on over night. It worked. Don't know if it could be better.

Then I use XBMC to watch it on a 23" tv/monitor. Tidy little setup.

Would be perfect for torrenting, very low power.

Google the Qnap range of NAS drives (109), these would suit you perfectly for a torrent rig. + they offer some very special functions.

It sure is: youtube.com/wat…QgE

That's a nice drop in price from the £230 it was at before this deal

Why do you need to flash the BIOS when going to Windows? No other computer needs that.

Or the Synology boxes - use a 109j myself and amazed at what it's capiable of.

Bare good deal. I bought the single core for £150 and am thoroughly impressed definitely worth the extra for the built in SPDIF etc. Currently being used for XBMC media player, it is nice and quiet and low powered, should work perfectly for a torrent machine.

These are excellent to use for running XBMC.

yes, I have mine on 24/7 but you may want to get an external 3.5" hdd to download onto otherwise it will kill your hdd quickly

beleive me you do :p, because Windows needs to check the SLIC to activate, the BIOS I listed from the acer website has SLIC 2.1 so you can install Windows 7. If you dont flash the BIOS you will have alot of trouble activating your Windows.

Edit: was looking at the AOC F22S this morning, looks like a nice monitor to go with the revo though it only has VGA.

You surely won't need SLIC 2.1 to activate a purchased copy of Windows though, just for OEM versions tied into the Acer BIOS.

Put windows 7 on a linux supplied machine no problems.

I bought this a while ago - see my vid if you want to see how to take it apart - youtube.com/wat…VMs

I put Windows 7 on my Linux version and it's been working fine ever since - no BIOS upgrade done (didn't know you were supposed to).

Bare? Barely? It's a good deal.

Heat added.

Extra £10 for delivery for N.I though.

Stupid ebuyer... They would have my custom for smaller items if it wasn't for that.

Hot deal but just this second bought the £239.99 one from Ebuyer with Windows 7.

Got one of these a while back and works greate as an under the Tv HTPC rig running boxee. One thing to note though if you have Windows 7 on it XBMC currently doesn't support the ION graphics chip so it won't play HD content well as it tries to use the CPU instead. However Boxee will play HD contet via the ION chipset and it looks stunning. Also Boxee now supports all the main five terrestrial on demand TV services straight inside the Boxee app. Hope this helps.

Oh and I'm told Linux and Xbmc will work fine using the ION chipset.

Do you know if it runs 1080p mkv files without stutter?
Also have you done anything to switch it on and off, or do you just use the power button on the pc? Obviously a little difficult when mounting it on the back of the tv so am wondering about different ideas to do it....
Thanks.
