Not too sure if this is a "good" price or not as its a ebuyer exclusive. However the price went down £20 as I was looking at it, so at least its cheaper than it was earlier today!

£90 cheaper. 2 GB RAM + 160GB HDD vs 4GB RAM + 500GB HDD

Might be worth considering

It also lacks Windows 7 which covers half of the price difference.

Looks like a really well specced nettop, but I hate that these things don't have an optical drive. Do they come with a USB stick with Window7 on it?
Would be perfect if it had a bluray drive, I wouldn't mind paying a great deal more if it did...

It's smaller than an external bluray drive pretty much. Would defeat the purpose of it to have one of these included.

I've got one of these babies (R3600) behind my TV and it's just great for watching movies on. In fact, that's what I'm just about to do right now!

Aye, but there are slimline versions these days.

I bought the model down from this yesterday from Maplin at Lakeside for £229,99 and the only 2 differences is mine only has 2gb ram and a 250gb hard drive

i have one of these just a heads up to anybody getting one that the smallest USB dongle i have ever seen is hidden inside the mouse and you need this to get your keyboard and mouse to work.

Nowhere in the instructions does it tell you that dongle is there and it is hidden behind a plastic flap to make it even harder to spot.

This is a great PC.

The one that is £190 at ebuyer.....

one at ebuyer for 190 is 2gb ram 160gb hdd and linux
no idea what os on this maplin one but there was a thread about a grade b revo @ maplin with win7 2gb 250gb 6 weeks ago

Edited by: "brilly" 21st Aug 2010

i got the r3600, only single core but it was £140, use it with xbmc its awesome. waiting for an easy snow leopard install.

I've got one of these running Media Centre, with the mediabrowser plug in - howtogeek.com/how…er/

It can play my media files from a NAS (I'm using it over ethernet) and it's even clever enough to mount iso images of DVDs and Blu Rays.

Have the R3610 2gb ram, 250 gb hard drive. One of the best purchases i've ever made. Hooked up to tv and currently watching the footie. Highly recommnded piece of kit

I thought Windows 7 was free?

any ideas of the best sub £150 monitor to use, the bigger the better maybe push to £175

thank u

I got this last week but paid £300 for it. If you're planning on using it as a media centre it is great.

The only thing that annoyed me was that it comes with a lot of crap installed on it. Took hours to get rid of it all.

I have it hooked up to a 1080p 42" tv and find that everything is too small if you run it at the native resolution. I knocked it down to about 720p and it was easier to use.

Good price.
I paid £185 for a 2Gb Win 7 refurb one from eBay for my daughter.

Good deal. Love REVO serials. Low energy consumption and very quite. Powerful enough for home daily application.

So tempted by this for a HTPC - not in a rush though (not moving in just yet) but should I get one anyway? Doubt I'll get anything better any time soon right guys?

The CPU can handle 720p MKV files easy enough right?

(although I am tempted just to use the PS3/Xbox hmm)

i got mine from this deal CLICK HERE(expired now but worth comparing):
£169.77
less 2gb Ram but sufficient
less 250gb HDD
wired keyboard/mouse instead
Dont think these are worth more than £100

ASRock OC Tuner to overclock to 1.8ghz no problem.

can easily handle MKV 1080p if you use the right media player (Divx Player can do it aslong as u install a program called Super)

These things ROCK!!! (edit - I mean the Acer 3610, not thre ASRock...that's just a waste of money imo)

You're better off with the 2GB\250GB hard drive version though....

Who needs windows 7, (or just pirate it as 95% of people do)...I've got 2 of the 2GB\250GB versions running XBMC, one with a projector and LCD the other in bedroom....These things are sooooo amazingly good, lovely menu interface with XBMC's different skins, iplayer plugins...1080p no problem...etc etc

It's the graphics card that's decoding the 1080p video. The Atom 330 CPU wouldn't stand a hope in hell in decoding even 720p h264 video on it's own smoothly.

Divx player doesnt even require DXVA! I get smoothness even after underclocking to 1.3ghz

XBMCFreak is nice for the svn xbmc, latest nvidia drivers, built in bitorrent client, sabnzbd+ etc.

Coupled with episode butler it's amazing

Is having 4 gigs of ram rather than the 2 on the other model likely to make any sort of difference to its function as an HTPC?

I'm not worried about getting my hands dirty with Linux and will keep all my media externally so no Windows and the smaller HDD aren't an issue, just concerned about the memory really.

2GB RAM 160GB HDD version is down £10, not £30 as stated on the website.

They need to come down another £10 or £20 again!
