For a "really" ultrabook, I mean with SSD and i5 CPU and 1.35kg weight, I think this is a very good price. I know it is a 2nd gen CPU, but you can't get everything at this low price.

Acer Aspire S3-391 Ultrabook Specifications:
Processor Intel Core i5-3317UM Dual Core (1.7GHz, 3MB Cache, Intel Turbo Boost up to 2.4GHz)
Screen 13.3" (Acer CineCrystal, 1366x768 HD, High Brightness, LED Backlit)
Operating System Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64-bit
RAM 4GB (DDR3) RAM
Hard Drive 20GB SSD + 500GB
Graphics Integrated (Intel® HD 3000 Graphics with up to 1274MB Shared Memory)
Wireless LAN Wireless (802.11b/g/n Wireless)
Integrated Webcam Integrated Webcam with Microphone
Card Reader 2-in-1 card reader ( SD, MMC )
USB Ports 2x USB 3.0
Bluetooth Bluetooth 4.0
Speakers Integrated Sound System
Kensington Lock Kensington lock slot
Charge Time 2.5 Hours
HDMI 1x HDMI Port
Keyboard Type Laptop Keyboard
Warranty 12 Months Acer Collect & Return
Battery Life 3-4 Hours (This Specific Model 3.5-hours)
Weight 1-2 Kg (This Model 1.35 Kg)
Product Type Ultrabook

Personally I will change the HD with a SSD instead of buying the another one with 128GB SSD.

Not voting either way. Bought one of these at christmas on the JL Deal I posted (far better value, but that was months ago) and returned it as it just didn't do it for me. May be hot for others though.

The £429.97 i5 version was at saveonlaptops for £399.97 not so very long ago - think I'll wait to see if it comes back down. I also noticed that two lucky people picked-up this very same machine from eBay brand new for £250.97 only a week ago!!!

Unless you're desperate, I'd seriously recommend that people hang-on too.

I didn't know that. I don't mind having one of this for £250. haha.

Thanks

ive just bought the Acer Aspire V5-571 15.6-inch Laptop - Silver (Intel Core i3 2365 1.4GHz, 6GB RAM, 750GB HDD, DVDSM DL, LAN, WLAN, BT, Webcam, Integrated Graphics, Windows

£329.97 !

I got this for £450 from Currys in October (Ended up being less than £300 after quidco and trade-in). I really like it. It's thin, quick, lightweight and does everything well. Battery life isn't amazing (5-6 hours on a good run), and wifi occasionally drops (been better with latest drivers), but these are small niggles for a machine with a huge discount off rrp.
Mine came with the mechanical hard drive which was a WD Scorpio Blue which I sold for £45 and bought a 128GB SSD for around the same price.

Keep an eye out for deals with the Windows 8 upgrade already in place. Laptops direct have this for £399 (only an i3 though).

15.6 lappy's tend to be very cheap these days whereas 13.3" ones seen to be at a premium - bear in mind the S3 is aiming towards the budget-end of the ultra-portable 'ultrabook' market.

That's a good price, but being an Ultrabook the S3 is thinner, faster (Cache SSD and i5), better materials and almost 1/3 of the weight. I'd definitely spend more on an Ultrabook if you're going to be taking it places. Staying in the living room, then I'd take yours.

Using one right now, a brilliant laptop.

If staying in the living room, i prefer a desktop.

i5-3317U is 3rd gen; the clue is that the suffix starts with a 3.
The spec says HD 3000 graphics which maybe what confused you; that's an error.

I have just figured out how to hackintosh this laptop

I'm in the process of writing a guide but basically I am typing this from mountain Lion OSx 10.8.2

Working: Sleep/Wake, speedstep/turbo, Graphics ( Hd4000 graphics) , Sound, Keyboard, Multi touch trackpad including 4 finger gestures, USB, Webcam
Not working yet: Built in wifi card, bluetooth

I'm using a cheap £6 usb nano wifi dongle at the mo

Equivalent macbook air is around £900!

Thanks for your information. I think that makes this even better.

I don't understand why people don't like this deal. Yes, it has been with a lower price. But at the moment, it is the lowest. And it is only half price and similar specification with Apple Air!
