I mean this is as close to a macbook air as windows can get for now. With that spec and price, it's not a bad deal at all.

This is a retarded comment. All Apple products have a technological superior made by a different company, including the Air. Just because you don't know what they are does not mean they don't exist.

I don't even like Apple but that's simply not true

People buy the MacBook Air for the unibody design, though, right? The Acer's chassis is bolted together pieces, as opposed to the Apple unibody design milled from that lustrous aircraft-grade aluminium! That probably won't matter to a lot of people. People sometimes also overlook that some people want to shell out extra for the Macs quality screens. The Aspire S3 has an average resolution of 1,366x768 pixels, whereas the MacBook Air is 1,440x900. If you want a Mac-wannabe but for some reason hate Apple, a better bet would be an Asus Zenbook. Build is better and it has a 1,600x900 quality ASUS panel in it. It doesn't stop there, though. The Acer has no high speed external hard drive connect. There are no USB 3.0 sockets, unlike the ASUS. There is a long list of reasons why someone would choose a Mac over this but the Acer is still a good deal, it's just not an Apple or ASUS.

Had a look at this the other day. Very nice, build quality seemed decent for an Acer and the matte plastics used for the shell are a lot more tactile than the hard edged milled aluminium of the Macbook Air I own. Hard to gauge fan noise in a crowded Costco, mind. Only immediate flaw was some very noticeable screen flexing from relatively light pressure on the lid.

you can find an in-depth review of this machine on

I found several other reviews with similar results which were really positive. Besides you are saving almost £400 on a comparable macbook air.

You quite clearly take Apple up the anus. Yet more truth.

Don't knock it till you've tried it, start with crab apples as they're smaller

^Can you translate that into english btw?

Good deal, cheaper than the others, for an ultrabook amazing price!!!

Also a 13.3 inch screen.
Closest Windows competitor is the Zenbook.. that appears that bit thinner, but for 600 quid... nice little gadget!

Heat added!

It's a good deal. I tried one the other day and as someone said, the screen is pretty flexible. That was my sole reason for not buying one as it felt like it'd break pretty quick (in my hands anyhow )

Regarding the Apple conversation; there are a tonne of products that are better than the air. For instance, the Asus UX31 has better specs and is significantly cheaper. That was the ultrabook I went for in the end as its a bit of a beast
