I might be wrong but I don't think it will.

Here is a run down of the cpu.

AMD 1250

I think its aimed more at general web browsing etc.

Older stuff, prob

Recent as in the last 5 years I would think not.

Not for this machine it wont, you'd need to add about £150 for basic level gaming of more modern games. This one would handle facebook games and older games from as other said 5+ years ago. Nothing fancy and 3d.

A better option at the minute for games like the sims, minecraft and more intensive games would be the likes of this.

Do you know what games he plays?

thx for advice. He told me tonight he is playing a flighter plane game, WW2 planes etc.
not to sure and would have check when he is over the weekend. He mentioned a while back he would like a Alien ware laptop but a quick Google and I would need to re mortgage I think!

He's probably talking about World Of War Planes (I Think)

So that laptop won't be able to run it.

Specs

OK thanks, I think thats the one. I will need to look for a lappy that can support this game and say a little extra to future proff it for a year or two. The Lenovo looks OK.

In all honesty if you want future proof convince him that he needs to get a desktop as at least that way you can upgrade components to keep the machine relevant for longer.

the reviews are poor on this for being slow.

I guess it depends on what you are wanting out of it but its had some good reviews

expert reviews

I bought it for my son who wants it to email, facebook, youtube, and web browse, it's not a gaming laptop, all depends on what you are looking for hardware wise, but for what it does personally feel its a good piece of kit for the price IMHO

these links (in post 10) are incorrect they show a machine with an a6 processor with 6gb of ram. the one currys are selling is an a4 processor and 4 gb of ram. apparently there is a big performance difference. a few of the reviews on amazon uk speak about being relieved they bought the higher specced amazon one after trying the a4 demonstrator in currys.

Gone up to £299.99. A friend went this morning for the £249 Acer V5-121 and they said the deal changed midnight last night but yet to have changed it on their website: currys.co.uk/gbu…tml?gclid=CI-o3LiyqrsCFUmWtAod7i8Aqw&srcid=198&cmpid=ppc~gg~~~Exact&mctag=gg_goog_7904&s_kwcid=AL!3391!3!30417268524!!!g!60594917155!&ef_id=UqmE1QAABc1IG8lS:20131212094141:s
