The only positives are very easy upgrading - can change memory, HDD to SSD, WiFi card and battery with no problem.
1366 x 768
Posted as a budget laptop at a budget price.
1366x768 - it is a 11" screen after all However unless you have good eyes you may have to use 125% .
Always stay true to the website's item desctiption! (<-- I used an exclamation mark too (_;))
768 is pretty rubbish considering some phones can almost double it
it probably is slow but
£50 for windows
£20 CPU
£10 M/B
£10 ram?
£25 Hard drive
£20 screen
£5 case+keyboard.
really this is the same price as a second hand laptop (albeit a faster one).
spend £80 more for something better. but what if money is tight?
thanks for posting.
You would think they were all expecting a 8gb i7 wouldn't you (_;)
Overall rank: 1497 in the world
Celeron N2820 and 1007U are fastest than this CPU. If you're doing budget then they're the minimum to go with.
Fishmaster I'm sorry I have to ask, What exactly are you comparing this £149.99 Laptop with? Another £149.99 Laptop?
Come on man, It's a budget Laptop, Would it be ok for my daughter to do her homework on? chat to friends? Could my old granny Beryl email her son Dave in Australia whilst her Husband Geoff checks todays horse racing results?
It's a £149.99 Laptop mate, I never posted as the perfect solution for anybody to play Watch Dogs.

Hot deal for kids for their first laptop.
Is this suitable for me?
I want a cheap laptop since my (very) old PC broke down and I've been using my sister's.
I want a cheap one until I can save up to buy one I really want, the (expensive) Apple Mac range.
All I'll be using it for will be to surf the web, use Microsoft Word and play lots of music.
But I can't stand slow computers - I have no idea to tell the speed with all the TB/GB numbers and stuff.
Please help
What, you mean like a Note 3 which'll cost you £400 if you want one?
Derp.
You find me an brand new 11" laptop with a full HD screen for £150 and I'll send you my left arm completely free of charge.
This is a netbook. Simple as that. I thought they were pretty much dead now. Guess Acer are still squeezing a few out. OH's daughter used to use a very similar model to this running a C60. It's was pretty weak it has to be said. Putting an SSD in it helped, but this is a £150 netbook. Fine for basic web browsing etc. But fast it ain't ....
Seem to remember swapping HDD's in the 700 series (think hers was a 721?) netbooks was pretty easy.
Fingers crossed this one is the same for you ....
They do the range in a load of different colours. OH's daughters one was a sort of teal colour.
She mostly uses it to run a minecraft server now I think ....
no watchdogs?? darn! better ring em up
I think it will be OK for basic use, as long as you don't try and do too many things at the same time. I think it offers good value. Maybe see if they have one on display in PC World or Argos and have a play with it before buying?
Ignore the idiots that expect it to perform the same as something twice or three times the price. Everything is built to a price. If I was looking for a cheap laptop for basic use, I would consider it.
Add some more RAM (it can take a 4 GB stick), replace the HDD with an SSD (I'm using a 250 GB Samsung 840 EVO in it) and it'll be fairly tolerable. Obviously that would defeat the price point a bit, and you might as well look at something like the Toshiba C50 with an i3 CPU if you're in the market for something cheap yet fairly fast for average and daily use. I've only done so myself because I needed something light and small to carry around while I'm on call, but it still had to be a fully functional netbook/laptop onto which I could install Linux (I'm using it in a dual boot setup - Ubuntu works quite well on it).
The HDD can be replaced quite easily in these, as the entire bottom plate comes off with one screw -- no fidgeting with getting the plastic separated, keyboard out, etc. However it'll void the warranty if you tinker with it -- I didn't care myself, but that's up to you of course.
The keyboard is quite good for this tiny thing, screen nothing spectacular (1380x768) but decent otherwise and battery will last 4 hours+ (with the original HDD it'll last less longer). Oh, and it has a USB 3.0 port (on the left side).
In all, I think it makes a good secondary laptop, but not as your main machine though.
Appreciate you posting all the deals you do, however the CPU really is netbook dire in this product. Like I said it's rare for me to rate a modern CPU as dire, as most modern dual cores are more than capable. This is crap though and I wouldn't touch it personally.
If you want to surf the net get a tablet at this price point, they will absolutely smash the crap out of this for browsing the web. If you want to do some office work i.e. word processing, then you need a keyboard and this deal would suffice.
"Painfully slow CPU; even when "turbo'd" to 1.33GHz, the dual-core AMD C70 "Brazos" is taxed 10% just to display Task Manager!" Taken from an Amazon review.
Anyway I've given my opinion, no point me trolling it anymore.
Nothing modern about the C70. Been around a couple of years now. And it was low end when it was new.
8gb ram fitted sweet
Are there any 11.6" laptops available for £150 or under that don't have slow processors? Or failing that, how much does one have to spend in order to get something usable?
got full fat 14"
HP EliteBook 8440p - Core i5, 2.39GHz, 2GB, 250GB, Grade B £168.00
scctrade.co.uk/pro…-b/
I have bought 3 of these from SCC and all where in good condition and had windows 7 COA on the bottom, 20 quid got me a set of genuine hp windows 7 pro disks from ebay no COA. All have intel hd graphics but sometimes they have a model with nvidia gfx cards for afew quid more just have to check often as they go quick.
bought 7 laptops from SCC over the past few years all still working 2 needed new batteries as the one installed held less than 60 minutes of runtime.
Lenovo ThinkPad X201 3680 12.1" £168.00
scctrade.co.uk/pro…=3/
check ebay for x201 docks if you want more connections and a dvdr i use one for work bloody good machine.
Moot point really as it was released September 27, 2012. We know it's low end and that was it's purpose on release, whether you consider it modern versus whether I consider it modern is based on the date above.
You wasted a 250GB EVO on this?! I haven't even put one in my main laptop still (4700MQ). Waiting for the price to drop...
Meh deal OP (voted hot) - yes its a very low price, but you get what you pay for. The C70 is VERY mediocre, but I guess it will suit very low demands for a small subset of people.
Otherwise I agree that buying refurbished business notebooks is a better idea.
Also consider the screen size, as already mentioned this is basically a "netbook" not really a laptop in the traditional sense. Those few inches (screen size) do make a difference.
