This is awesome for the money....you gotta format the drive before it will take any OS.

darn darn darn darny darn!

A deal at £119 a fortnight ago, a steal at this price.

Is this any good for running xbmc?

HDMI and APU that makes an ideal low powered media centre PC.
Good value for anyone a fully functional computer.
Anyone who does not have a windows licence should give Linux Mint a go.

terrible processor, but for this money hot hot hot!!!

Should be fine, There are comments in the reviews section from someone that has used ubuntu on it.

So not terrible for the price.

Be aware installing Win 7 is a bit problematical as Acer don't really support it. This link is very useful

Acer XC-115 Win7 Drivers

Bought this from the previous deal at £120, installed Windows 8.1 and Kodi, runs really well. Very quick load time (think it was about 20 seconds). Handled 1080p streams impressively.

Can anyone recommend a small PC like this, but with a bigger HD and OS installed? Thanks.

no matter what the price its still one of the worst processors on the market but as a package for £99 its a good value system even if all you do is break it for parts and dump the cack processor!

Ordered cheers op. Was going to buy an android box for xbmc\kodi but this should be better once windows is installed.

No Wi-Fi.

Would this work as a Plex server?

Would this be ok for a dedicated Plex Media Server? Do you think it would transcode 1080p ok?

I was going to comment and say I have this machine plugged into my TV downstairs and it is superb for watching films etc then I realised this one has an AMD CPU.....so not going to vote as mine although similar has an Intel CPU

Not really the point of this thread. Open a query in "misc".

Plex on Ubuntu runs on pretty much anything. This should be ok for it.

Great for streaming etc but not for games or anything but at this price I guess you wouldn't be looking to use it for that anyway! Also I think psu is only 220w so unlikely to take any graphics cards in the expansion slots

No Wi-Fi.

That's not a serious post, is it?
A USB wi-fi stick costs a couple of pounds.

Seems like a great price.
Would need an operating system and CPU upgrade though.

Why would it? Not everyone has the same capabilities as you

Why would it need a CPU upgrade? For watching a few movies and doing some online shopping and browsing Facebook it's fine. No one is going to be buying this and trying to run GTA V or Crysis 3 or using intensive video editing software on this.

Would struggle to transcode. Stream yes.

Something with a Intel g3258 would be better, I'm looking for one myself.

It's a slower processor compared with some but it's designed to be. Hence the price.

Does anyone know if this can run crysis on ultra?

very slow - maybe why its so cheap

Does anyone know where my time machine went so I can go back to the 80's and collect this fellas sense of humour?

Defo needs a better operating system.
Some can put up with the processor, but I think it's crap, so I personally wouldn't.
Even at this price though, the slight upgrades can be done and you'd have a solid machine.

OS and CPU Upgrades would make this £150+, doesn't make sense to upgrade, if this doesn't suit your needs you'll be better off buying a £150+ prebuilt, or build the whole thing from scratch

Very quick load time (think it was about 20 seconds).

Why is that surprising for a brand new system?

Looking at buying these as replacements to old Athlon 64 x2's for our company

Or maybe it's cheap because it's slow?

It only needs upgrades for people who don't want to use it for what it's intended (or people wanting to play Crysis on it).
On a side note, anyone know if there will be a Crysis 4?

Hey Sacha, got any new movies in the pipeline? Borat was the best.
