This is my first deal so apologies for any newbie errors.

Posting as I've not seen it mentioned anywhere else. Not a massive saving but might help others out there.

Was offered a £20 discount at checkout in return for taking out a KnowHow Support plan on the laptop. Plan is free for the first month and £4.99 per month thereafter.

The guy even told me that I can cancel the plan the next day (which I did this morning).

*** I think the main point here (which I didn't really highlight properly) is the £20 discount. I'm assuming this can apply to other items if you ask for it but obviously YMMV.

Hope this helps.

Do not see the appeal of chromebooks that cost this sort of money that a refurbished Dell laptop cannot offer. The Os is limited at best and is crying out of another Linux distribution to get the most out of it.

They are great for simple tasks and for people who are not technical such as elderly people and young children.
I got this about a year ago for only £200, how on earth can this be considered a deal! I sold it within a month and got an i7 Dell with 16gb ram off eBay for £170

This one is frequently seen for less than this and so it should be!

There are some bonuses to Chromebooks if you are only looking at creating basic documents and searching the Internet.

The OS does not need any maintenance (updates etc) and are prob one of the most secure systems as the OS is on the Cloud.

Also the processor does not have to be as fast and power hungry as it's done in the Cloud thus longer battery life and also no need for internal fans.

Also for the price they are lighter and less bulky than a lot of other laptops at the same price.

I must admit they are not for me as I prefer my desktop, but ideal for my wife who just uses it for banking, surfing and creating documents and spreadsheet etc.

You got an i7 with 16gb ram laptop for £170? What was the fault with it? Because you'd never get one in good working order for that off eBay!

Ditto, have used it extensively and this is a great little machine.
Keep an eye out on Gumtree, chromebooks are often £60-80 in good condition. As they tend to be used as secondary devices think its fine to be secondhand.

I picked up a second hand one of these with 4gb ram for £120 recently. I'd consider myself techy and love the machine.

You are right, it was only 4gb ram which i swapped out for more. i7 2.1ghz, 256ssd, outside shell was scratched etc, inside (screen and keyboard i mean) are good

I've been looking at ones with no HDD or ram so I can fit in my own but the problem for me is that then the battery tends to be crap or sold as "untested" and I need 3-4 hours. Ah well.

Yeah I got a good battery too - 4hrs
Sorry but a cold deal considering Argos has the Gold version for £199.99 and yes it's the full HD 4gb ram model argos.co.uk/pro…339 plus you're not having to buy it from the chimps in Currys/PC World

On a side note though I actually own one of these and it's superb, the screen is crystal clear and it supports Google play store apps and you can even side load non playstore apk's such a Terrarium TV if you enable developer mode.
The battery life seems to last forever as well 10hrs minimum.
Mine is Silver but I wish it was the Gold colour as it's much better looking even though I'm a fella.

If anyone happens to be wandering by this thread, Terrarium tv is a terrific app. Much easier and better to use than kodi - more akin to the amazon prime interface. ideal for technophobes (e.g Mrs topazz).
