im sure vista can be uninstalled very easily

m520=1.6ghz

I can't understand for the life of me why people are voting this cold. Its nearest competiors are all more like £280+. Vista basic will run fine on 512Mb but most people would immediately invest in at least a gig of memory or better still ditch Vista for XP anyhow. There is nothing wrong with this pc, personally I would be more worried about the retailer, has anyone used them?

i agree, i think people just like voting cold for fun

£201.95 with the 10% off code and maybe some Quidco (3%)

I am sorry but that is untrue, vista running 512mb is the equivalent of running XP on 128mb. The problem is made worse, in that the graphics is shared to suck another 128mb off that 512mb. Most people will *not* buy a memory upgrade and be unaware that such a thing would be possible. This laptop is not in any way fit for the purpose of running vista and should be avoided at all costs.

However, it will be fine for xp...

Decent price.

£10 to make it 1.5GB and its a good laptop at £211.

Fine with Vista too.

I'm afraid you can only run Vista on this laptop (see forums). Acer does not support any other OS (laptop will overheat). So, unless you are prepared to upgrade, it's not a good deal for this reason.

Thanks for this - have just ordered it using Quidco and the 10% code. Could anyone tell me how easy it is to upgrade the RAM on this model?

You think that £200 for a Celeron 1.6GHz laptop with 80Gb drive, DVD writer and 15" screen is not a good deal? :roll: what exactly is then

It is out of stock now anyway

Probably an easy acess cover on the bottom.

Hopefully you have 1X 512MB with one slot free for more DD2 SODIMM. (play often cheapest)

an ebuyer email advertises a HP 530 laptop with 1GB RAM on special at £270.

Shows that this was a very decent buy.
