Looking for a chromebook for a while as my Asus Transformer slowed to a crawl. Got £10 extra cashback when spending through Quidco offer and noticed that Acer store offering 11% cashback on everything. Works out a pretty good deal and yes I have put my money where my mouth is. Free economy shipping.

Should be getting Play Store for Android app support (varies by app)
  • Chrome OS
  • Intel® Celeron® N2840 processor Dual-core 2.16 GHz
  • 29.5 cm (11.6") HD (1366 x 768) 16:9 IPS
  • 2 GB, DDR3L SDRAM and 16GB eMMC Storage
  • Intel® HD Graphics with Shared Memory
  • 2 x USB 2.0 plus 1 x USB 3.0 ports
  • 9hr battery life

Yes you can. Browser should work fine (did for Scrabble) or if there is a separate Android app that will likely work too
I pick up a Chromebook 14 refurb from Laptops Direct for about this price and pretty pleased with it so far. Just checked and seems they have the 4gb version as well (mine was 2gb). Worth noting neither of these Chromebooks are touch screen which limits the amount of Android apps you could use.

I thought about a refurb but this is brand new and the 11% cashback plus the £10 Quidco offer takes off over another £25 off for me.

Fair enough, the refurb thing does put a lot of people off. Very happy with mine and laptops direct get good feedback on refurbished units. For me the bigger screen and extra ram plus the look of the Chromebook 14 win out over the 25 discount. Good to have options.

Fair enough, for me this this is a second device for portability to replace my old Asus TF103 2 in 1, so smaller is actually better.

Chromebooks are great for that and much more secure than running Windows. I still can't do without a Windows PC for the heavier tasks but having a Chromebook now is great for browsing and everything else. A smaller unit for travel is a good idea, the 14 inch although light and thin is a little bulky. Only thing I would say is touch screen would be nice for better android app compatibility.

The Acer 14"ers are surprisingly nice. Yes, touch screen helps although Android apps will be a bonus for me, this will be used for browsing, email and I have grand delusions of writing on holiday! Thinking about trying to get the kids into writing Scratch too.

I ordered this last Sunday on 3/4 day delivery and still waiting, only just arrived in the country. Not Acers fault as they handed it to DHL on Monday but don’t order if you need it in a hurry. Nothing ever arrives on time with DHL, just ask KFC!
Btw cash back with Quidco tracked at £15.58 the following day.

Mine tracked within 15min or so. No rush for it so it'll probably come really quickly

The Acer 14" series already has it, not 100% if already on this series as well or not, but pretty sure it's due

That's a laptop not a Chromebook.
Loved this Chromebook when I had it, but the n2840 processor is showing its age now and is slow to render more and more webpages.

It's been due to get Android app support for almost 18 months now, with no signs of it ever appearing. Just a word of warning if that's important to you.

Sorry, the "Limited quantity available" mislead.
Don't touch them 32GB is just not enough for Windows, 64GB is more workable. That's why they're so cheap and unwanted on Argos eBay
