Good price for essentially a fast opening net book. It is restrictive but if your surfing and doing basic word excel type stuff it should be more than suitable.

Current 10% off with code Chromebook10 makes it £243 then 11% quidco cashback if it pays put making it £214.

Where? All laptops I can see at £250 are absolute rubbish.
We have the Acer r13 Chromebook and cannot fault it. Great screen extremely quick boot, quick in use, 14hr battery life, silent and has android apps - the list goes on. The only negative is that you can't install windows programmes, but if that isn't an issue (or can be met with an android apps) then there's no reason not to.

We previously had a similar priced laptop which was slow, heavy, very short battery life, noisy and was generally too hot to have on your lap. And all this did 90% time was browse internet or watch movies/Iplayer.

So it was an easy choice we haven't looked back on

I find my Chromebook far more practical than my full sized laptop. There's very little I can't do, give that you can even run Microsoft office online. The battery on mine lasts a full day of use too.

I have one of these, I dont need all the bells and whistles (bloat) of a full OS. Boots up super quick, great for streaming Amazon Video, YouTube etc.

Shame it's not the one with the 1080p screen
Sorry for being so ignorant but can u just attach any printer to this through the usb port and it will then work? With windows u need drivers etc.
If you have a cloud ready printer it works a treat, no wires

NO it will not work. You will need a Wifi printer with 'GOOGLE CLOUD PRINT' capability

not all wifi printers can do this

Except he is wrong. You can add any CUPS LAN printer. Been working that way for years.

COLD not a good deal, sorry.

The Full-HD IPS version with N3160 processor is NX.GC2EK.007. amazon.co.uk/Ace…+14

This is NX.GC2EK.004 with a Slowly processor and a TN screen.
Pay a bit more, get the superior model, not worth the saving.

If you are referring to using CUPS to print locally - you will have to be connected to you LAN so you will be online but independent of upstream internet. Connecting a printer direct to a client with cables is not a viable model in a multi-device environment. In this my chromebook is no different to any other PC in the house.

Yepp, definitely worth the extra cash, I bought the gold version for my daughter for Christmas. Her secondary school uses Google Apps for Education and there's nothing she can't do on it. Incidently, I paid £230 for the better model at Christmas, the lower spec version could be had for £170 at the time, so I don't think this is much of a deal right now.

Incorrect, you can print directly over a network without CloudPrint. See 'Add a printer manually' here:

support.google.com/chr…-GB

You can also print via a print server on another device that support Cloud Print, like a Synology NAS.

The orginal question which I answered No!
Sorry for being so ignorant but can u just attach any printer to this through the usb port and it will then work
I've got two of these Chromebooks for my kids. For school work they are great. No Windows Updates. You charge them up. Open it up, type a password and are ready to work within 10 seconds. Their homework is on Google Docs rather on a mixture of Windows computers, USB sticks and Network drives.

I have an earlier version of this Samsung printer which supports Cloudprint and has reasonably priced compatible toner cartridges amazon.co.uk/Sam…KR6
The low spec version is fine, we use for a project helping people get online, but can regularly be got for either £199 or even £179. If this one does work out at £214 and is the hd 4gb version then pretty good deal. If.
Worth a mention the hd version is actually a bit difficult to look at if you have aging eyes as the resolution makes text a bit too small for comfort, even if you adjust the settings!
I have a HP chrome book which I got from eBay argos for about 130 two years ago... Excellent for browsing and basic works. Quick start up. Window laptop takes a while to start up, and also can hear the fan continously on the sub £300 laptops.
thinking about buying this for my other half, she only watches netflix and goes on facebook and amazon... this ticks all the boxes.
I can't see that offer on Quidco though?
hang on... i'm being a knob!
