Will it possible to get 144hz at 1440p with the one via HDMI? Doesn't seem to mention in this listing, but aware sometimes you need to use DVI for that.

My bad, I meant DVI. Well that's an improvement anyway.

Use DisplayPort over HDMI for a PC.
Mike_HUKD07/09/2019 18:35

Seems my PC doesn't have a display port!

Surely you won't have the hardware to delivery 144hz @ 1440p for any modern ish games if that's the case?

I can't seem to find if it has 2 or 1 HDMI or what version the HDMI is I afraid.

I think (hope) I do! Just bought it a few days ago, hasn't arrived yet. Maybe it will have a DVI but the spec says no unfortunately, didn't realise until I started looking at monitors that this is quite important. I bought this one;

That 1660 will have a DisplayPort on it. DVI is a bit old hat now, DisplayPort is the mainstream digital output for PC right now.

Sorry getting myself confused, it has a DVI but apparently doesn't have a display port. Not sure if that's just because the case it's in? Not sure really lol.

That’s the motherboard output not the graphics card, check what model 1660 they’ve put in and see what outputs that has..

Just on that point, make sure you use DisplayPort over HDMI on Nvidia cards or you won't be able to use FreeSync.

Thanks. I'm new to this, so kind of hoping display ports on the card = something on the back of the box I can plug it into lol. If not I'll be back here asking for help

Virtually all new cards in the last few years or so have at least 1x DisplayPort, even the low / mid range ones.

With that rig you should be able to get most games up to 144hz but you will have to lower the settings down a bit, and FreeSync will help keep everything smooth.

Welcome to PC gaming! Rainbow Six Siege is my favourite at the moment.

Are you using a FreeSync monitor with Siege ? I'm considering updating since the FreeSync compatibility was announced.

Siege is amazing!

Looks like this monitor isn't the best for FreeSync with Nvidia, someone has reported that it requires a change in settings after every restart. I would look for a monitor that is known to work well with FreeSync. Sorry to add to your confusion.but it will be worth it in the long run.

To be clear the.monitor will work at 144Hz but the freesync compatibility is not 100%.

Thanks. After measuring up the space I want to put this, I decided to go for the smaller AOC C24G1.

That was a while back when compatibility was pretty ropey to say the least. I read another user who was having similar issues but they were fixed with a driver update.

Cool, that would be great don't mean to be negative, could you post a link if you find it.

If it plays up, I will just send it back but both these were at the start of the year when support was only just released.
Would this be good for Xbox one x?

you would be able to make use of the Freesync capabilities but you won't be able to use 144hz on an Xbox.

For an xbox, I would find something with Freesync, decent HDR and 4K.
for those concerned with its Freesync capabilities, its younger 27" brother has joined the 'verified' list: nvidia.com/en-…cs/

Its from the same family just 27" and 1080p so that would say its got a good chance.
38469124-7oVtK.jpgPicked it up yesterday. Been using it most of the afternoon today. No dead pixels, no backlight bleed, haven't had to change any of the settings so far.

FreeSync was already switched on and Nvidia automatically set the screen to 144hz with GSync Support on. So far very impressed.

Added a couple of images from Rainbow Six Siege (on a monitor arm).
