I got one of these last year for £309 on argos reseller. Other than slightly damaged box, it was brand new. Faster than those timeline laptops I looked at for same price, although battery won't last 5 hours. I find 4 hours when playing on internet, listening to music etc, and drops down to 3 to 3.5 hrs when playing something like left 4 dead 2 (tried it for a laugh, surprisingly playable on lowest settings) or watching a film w/volume on high. The athlon is a lot quicker than the atom cpus, and the radeon 3200 similar to the ion platform in terms of power. Also plays back 1080p rips perfectly fine.

Not voted, as its gone up in price over last 12 months, whereas £250 would be a fairer price imo.

The ION gpu has roughly 1.5x the power of the 3200HD, however your quite right due to the major limitations of a single core atom (in my HP 311c) it should handle things near on par. With the latest HP beta firmware (I do beta testing for HP, Kaspersky and a few others so get things EARLY) the cpu natively wanted to go to 2.4ghz however it wont boot like this, downclocked to 2.2ghz and it runs so I am sure that it would then outrun this machine for both battery life and performance. (please not the HP I mentioned was not the ACER above its for comparison only)

Still good spec for a 'specific' netbook, and fairly rare to see people using so a win there I feel.

The fact it ships with 3gb of ram and supports 64bit to me are major wins too, good find op, now if only AMD and nvidia would get together and use that processor with the ION gpu (wont ever happen as AMD own ATI but we can dream)

for a refurb sub £225 in my opinion -

cold

netbooks are so overated and so overprice

blame alot on Apple (for most gadgets, not just netbooks), pioneering and releasing innovative products, causing competitiors to release there products, often rushed and half done properly, and then the same competitors overprice there products, benchmarking against apples hyperinflated pricing

its all so messed up!

personally id hold back until the second generation of any products is released - so that teething problems (which usually number hundreds) are ironed out

style over substance?
how about money over sense?!
