wow that's a cracking deal. Just a quick note - there's no vesa mount with this, I'd have snapped it up in a heartbeat if it had this

Would this be any good for gaming?

You need a screen for gaming, it's a screen. So yes.

What makes you think it might not be?

2nd time I've seen blue-light related features on a screen in the last few days. Glad they're clicking on to that.

It's a VA panel so it won't be great for gaming... probably wiser to look elsewhere...

6ms response time is considered a little slow for gaming (though I'm not sure I'd be able to tell in my old age).

Entirely up to you as it depends on what games you play. Online games such as fighting or first person shooter are recommeded to be played on monitors with less than 5ms response times.

IPS AND VA?!
Hmm...

Flubit it!

I agree. You only live once

VA at 6MS is not slow and anything below 8ms at 60Hz the human eye can't see, However Ebuyer are using Yodel for nearly all deliveries now so whether your get this before Xmas is another matter, I'm waiting for a Monitor from Ebuyer paid for Next Day Delivery and it's not moved from the Depot in Hayes since arriving in the early hours.

Hahaha I purchased a £150 graphics card from Ebuyer. And... Yodel left it lying on my front door step, in an area where crime is reported 2500 times within a mile radius. OOhh yess London! Worst of all they stated that I had it signed. Ebuyer doesn't care and neither does Yodel!

I own virtually all display technologies.
I have no allegience to either.
But I prefer VA over IPS, for gaming and watching movies.
IPS is great for office applications.

My preference: Best to worst: CRT (Trinitron) > VA > IPS > TN.

This is a stonking deal and I strongly recomend anybody who is looking for a monitor to buy this.

Just ordered a BenQ XL2411Z for Christmas, would this Acer work well as a companion monitor?
(meaning, doing my gaming on the BenQ while having other stuff open on the Acer?)

Is this the new version of not needing full hd on smaller screens because the human eye cant see the extra detail? its more complicated than simply saying you cant see anything below 8ms, slower pixel response times will lead to motion blur and the quoted 8ms i suspect will be grey to grey so the true figure will be higher.

No monitor manufacturers use Black to White for response times any more in their marketing they always sell panels based on Grey to Grey. If you don't want to see motion blur you turn off the image processing on the panel. If you want fastest response times you buy TN. as nether VA or IPS are there yet. If you want the best viewing angles, colour reproduction and a true black level you buy a VA or IPS panel.

if you dont want to see motion blur you turn the image processing off? uhhhhhhh what, image processing like 100hz is designed to reduce the panels inherent motion blur, some panels simply suck and have motion blur
