I know it is the marketing blurb but which part of this tablets screen is HD?

1.1 mm thick. Wow. That sure is thin.
I think OP needs to change that to 11.1mm?

The bit with the image on it.......

Still prefer a Nexus 7 first edition over this; yet, this is great for the price.. Heat added!(_;)

Good price, but it's a tad heavy at 410 grams, Reviews say it does not have a good screen, I'd say hold out for a better tablet if you can

4:3 HD is 1024x768. Has been quite common in the US and the Far East.

Great deal

Why would someone buy this when 32gb nexus is £99?

They want a 4:3 tablet, they want removable storage , they want HDMI out. The Nexus costs 50% more.

Good price. Heat added. Got it for 85 at game last May. It feels plasticky though. And screen isnt that great either but its usable.

I haven't heard of this 4:3 HD thing at all and you shouldn't just follow the line on this. 1024x768 cannot display even a 720P image. Therefore it is *not* HD. Not in any way, shape or form. It's just a lie.

Edit: The minimum 4:3 ratio resolution that could be considered HD is 1280x960.

Quad core ? Seems good for quad core

I have this tablet, generally very good. Screen is nice and clear, but has some problems especially when clicking small links, that is it doesn't always respond. When I first got this tablet it got numerous updates, one of which was to fix this issue-it helped but the insensitivity still occasionally appears. Also, it is one of the few devices that the BBC cannot support for downloading on iplayer, you can watch iplayer, but, you do not have the ability to download and store to watch later. In the last few days an update has come up for upgrading to kitkat, I have not done it yet as it stops you writing to sd card, anyone know if I download music via usb will it write to sd on kitkat? Finally I should say that I have a phone on 4.2.2 and you can move apps to sd, but this tablet (4.2.2) does not allow it.

You will also be shocked to know the first generation Plasma TVs had huge 'HD Ready' logos on the box but were 1024x768!

Why are you judging these new standards? Else where in the world they were enjoying HD cable TV while we were watching just 4 rubbish analogue channels.

And therefore not capable of fully displaying even a 720P image. Plasma just had the benefit of better image scaling. Again this is just marketing bull. Are you seriously defending this? All that 'HD Ready' logo on those sets means is that they will accept an HD input and display it. It doesn't mean it's going to display it in HD.

Huh?

Thanks OP. Wanted a no thrills tablet with an HDMI out, and this fits the bill perfectly.

They're also doing 50% off accessories, so got a cheap HDMI lead too.

It's saying out of stock.

grey is still in stock as just bought

I have the 7" version of this tablet with similar specs and it's a nice nippy tablet, but I have issues with the screen it gives of a strange glare that none of the other tablets in our house do its very similar to looking at a Nintendo 3DS screen when the 3D is turned on.
and after a while your eyes start to strain.
I think with mine its because the screen size isn't good for the resolution so it might not happen on this size tablet.
I would recommend that you try and have a look at one before you buy it

Not sure you're correct on this. HD Ready and indeed HD originally required the ability to display 720 lines of resolution, progressively scanned. Thus with 768 lines this tablet is indeed HD and correctly marketed. Happy to be corrected but 99% sure I am right.

it upgradable to KitKat. My A1-810 already received KitKat update since last week.

Bought a refurb one for £60.00 @ tesco ebay the Camera did not work from day one, it is a know issue luckily Acer repaired it for free, BBC Iplayer has an issue with this tablet for Downloading content, all in all for the money a decent tablet.

this or the new sero 8 that's in ebuyer for £79?

i have ICONIA A1-811 exactly the same tablet except for the sim slot on it great little tablet it has its faults like the screen brightness
and the camara is not great but on the plus side is price, a good size ,light and speedy and good battery would recommed to folks to try it before you **** it can always take it back if you dislike it ,i`m really happy with mine

compadre

Hmm maybe I have a dodgy one then, I have tried all the brightness settings and the lowest one does help but then I can't see the screen lol
If I use the Android browser to look at this site for instance just above the tabs at the top there is a blue area and that flickers every now and again.
It's strange really

Good if some people let them think...

So far so great with mine. No issues with the cameras or screen - plugged it into my TV and worked first time.

Great tablet for the money and no probs with Asda too.

Thanks again OP.
