Amazing deal.

Acers site is saying the cashback does not start until tomorrow.

From AimedHigh:

"Just contacted Acer support and they said they have had several calls but even they are unsure and will not get an answer from their accounts manager till tomorrow.
They also advised to hold off purchase until tomorrow and apologised for misleading."

It probably will be honoured if you purchase today, however i'd wait until tomorrow.

edit: acer have confirmed the £50 cashback is valid today and until the promotion ends.

Says £30 cash back in small lettering around the £50 cashback.....
What's with this trend for new sooner than 30 days for submitting cashback? It seems pretty dodgy, I guess they are getting frustrated with the higher expected rates at which people are claiming cashback. If you are going to offer it don't attempt to weasel your way out of it /end rant

The link shows £50 starting from today, £30 was the previous cash back amount which ended yesterday.

Yea i saw that when i clicked on it.
Seems a bit weird why they would have £50 in big letters, then £30 surrounding it in small letters.

I've no idea, I think its pretty much the best deal currently for a tablet.

£ for performance/features anyway.
Wkd deal....
lol wtf. how are people voting this cold? I'd take this over a nexus 7 any day of the week! it's cheaper and has more features!

bloody fanboys...

It looks like someone was a bit lazy editing the price.
Great deal, looks on par with nexus 7 for less.
Looks good, expandable memory for all those people that complain about it, and hdmi out
I paid 170 yesterday for 16gb n7 but no hdmi. tegra chip is the dogs b0llox this still a top 5 tab for £130!

Tempted to sell my kindle which I have never used (still has plastic film on screen) and buy this instead.

cashback info "All except eBuyer"

that's sellers excluded. so all sellers are excluded except for ebuyer.

also, this item iirc is supposed to be only sold on ebuyer in the UK, hence the seller exclusions.

Presumably, the 'no sooner than 30 days claim period' is to prevent people ordering an item, claim the cashback, and then return the item for a full refund. The distance selling regulations relate to a return within 7 days from receipt of the goods, and any claim for a refund must be paid within 30 days, so that should give the suppliers enough time to make sure the order has not been returned.

Agreed but there's another reason as well. You can't claim it straight away. People have busy lives and things will happen in the next 30 days. A lot of people will forget, lose the paperwork, decide they can't be bothered etc. Acer are banking on on;y a proportion of people actually following the instructions and making a valid claim - say 60% as a guess. That means it can be advertised as effectively £129 but they will actually make more than that on average.
Wow. Good spot. The Nexus 7 is driving the budget end of the market at the moment and presumably Acer has done this to kick start some sales. If hdmi out and a microsd slot is a deal breaker then consider the Acer. The Nexus 7's screen quality is way better and worth the extra IMO. After all, looking the screen is what you'll be doing for all those hundreds of hours, so may as well make it as pleasurable experience as possible. Nothing against the acer but get a Nexus 7, you wont regret it.
Heck of a deal and "Perfect Size for Daily On-the-Go Life" means it has GPS too.
HDMI, quad core and SD slot make up for the fact that the screen is worse than even that of the iPad Mini.
stonking deal
Interesting - I think I'll sit tight and pick up a good deal in the new year - the tablet market is in flux atm.

so u think that they will be even less than this price?
All this talk of the nexus screen being better, is that mainly resolution, or is there more to it? Brighter?

Ive got an HTC desire HD which is 2yrs old now but still looks perfectly good to me - anyone know how this screen compares?
read the pc pro review and they all said viewing angle is poor
pc pro
Verdict

Not a terrible tablet, but the Nexus 7 is superior in almost every way – and cheaper

thats a lie as acer is more cheaper

Edit : at the time of review tha acer wud have been more ...

The screen would be better than a HTC Desire HD, this has a higher resolution.

The viewing angle will not be amazing, you have to actually look at it to use it. Pretty much the same as the Nexus 7.

The resolution might be higher but the desire HD has a better DPI:

Fair point. Like the iPad it is best used in the shade outdoors.
Still a great buy and many like the screen.

HDMI, the SD slot and current price still make it a great buy.

the Nexus 7 has the same size of screen but is a higher resolution so a higher DPI. you get more 'real estate' but as the DPI is higher everything is a bit smaller.
