Does anyone know if Acer would take a Chinese generic tablet for this offer? I have a working a13 7" tab which I could use for this.

EDIT: or, if I was being really cheeky, my very old (just under 5 years old -- released June 2009) SmartQ V7, which is a Linux/CE/Android tablet running Gingerbread (ahem). It's essentially worthless now, but is in as-new condition.

Certainly can't complain about the deal though Worst case scenario I send them back my old Archos Cobalt 80, and get this new tab for £130 after Acer cashback, 10% "new customer" discount and assuming that I get the 9% TCB also... really can't grumble at that.

Ha I had one of them too. Resistive touch screen and also huge. Not sure they'll take it nowadays.

I think they'll take the SmartQ and Chinese tab, they weren't very specific about the "any other tablet" criteria unlike Dell who only wanted the well-known brands (but they were offering a higher cashback rate). Thanks for the heads-up about the 10% discount, this is looking more tempting now.

Well, we will see. I have asked the question directly of Acer so we'll see what their response is.

As an aside, I received a very nice email from Staples' commercial director today; apparently I was the first person to use the new site. It seems I will be receiving a phone call at some point with a nice offer as a thankyou. Which is cool, never usually get treats

Sold out. I just hope their nice new website wasn't taking orders after they ran out.

Just got an email rejecting my order from yesterday:

"Not valid on purchases of gift vouchers, postage stamps, EasyTech, Apple products, tablets, laptops,
desktop pcs, monitors and warranty."

Cancelled mine was looking forward to it as well.
Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for placing your order with Staples.

On this occasion we are unfortunately unable to process the order.

As per the terms and conditions off the offer; one voucher per
transaction and only one voucher per customer. Not transferable. Not
valid with any other offer or voucher. No cash alternative or money
back. Not valid on prior purchases or exchange items. Online only offers
cannot be redeemed in store. Offer subject to availability and while
stocks last. All values include VAT. Not valid on purchases of gift
vouchers, postage stamps, EasyTech, Apple products, tablets, laptops,
desktop pcs, monitors and warranty. All information is correct at the
time of press. Terms and conditions are subject to change without prior
notice. This offer is only valid online and via the call centre.

As we are not processing the order you are not part of a legally binding
contract and no monies will be deducted from your credit/debit card. At
the point of ordering, only authorisation for payment was taken. Once we
cancel the order this authorisation is cancelled. Depending on your Card
Company or bank, it may take a couple of days for them to release the
authorised funds back to your account balance.

We wish to apologise on behalf of Staples for any inconvenience this may
have caused and we do hope we can welcome you as a customer of Staples
in the future.

Kind Regards

Mine's on it's way :s Will keep an eye on it though as they've been a bit slow with respect to accepting my CC, but that does seem to have gone through now.

No followup call regarding the "first customer" thing, and no TCB so far. Not the most efficient service so far I have to say!

Got email saying on its way but TNT but haven't actually picked it up yet.

Arrived today, discount included.

I've been using it lightly for the last few days and it is a pretty good device. At two hundred quid it certainly matches anything else out there and with full Windows 8 I'd say it's perfect for anyone who wants it for just web browsing and watching videos; native HDMI output makes it pretty easy to use.
